I am completely satisfied with this. They apologized and even bowed on stage (that shows a lot of humility). Free month of Plus and a bunch of other unannounced stuff. And it will be back on this week. They outlined the new security measures, which is reassuring. Not sure how anyone can complain about this, especially if turns out nothing was stolen from us by the hackers.

Nope. I completely wiped everything DCU off my PS3. Maybe if it didn't take two days to do all of the installs...

Anyway, I hope they allow us one free download of our choice, that, IMHO would really show the PS3 community that they are indeed sorry. I mean, I'm sure they are... but still. I also believe we'll find out stuff WAS stolen, if not I don't think they would have been as humble as they're being.

Yeah, pretty much. What do people want really? For a representative of Sony to come to their door with a specific apology and free, no string attached oral sex? What else can people really want...

I've come to learn over the years that gamers are among the inidivduals with the biggest sense of entitlement out there. Sony doesnt owe us anything. The fact that they are given some stuff is good enough. The I need an apology is ridiculous. What is an apology (which they already gave) going to do? Its not like it will erase what's already been done.

All I want is PSN back online. I don't really care about any extra snuff.

Likewise Nathan....any news as to when it'll be back? This week?

yeah thats what they said. It may not be all at once though. Im guessing Japan will go first since thats the smallest territory and then slowly they will roll out NA and EU by the end of the week

See... I'm not demanding this or that, I actually game more on Live so PSN being down doesn't even really bother me... BUT, I'm having a hard time understanding why Sony's customer base is so forgiving. If Live was experiencing the same problems both advocates and opponents of Microsoft would be all over it.

I mean, maybe the whole issue isn't as big as it COULD have been... but it's still nothing to wave your hand and forget about. I just find it hard to be completely forgiving of any multi-billion dollar company that doesn't take the steps it needs to keep user information safe and sound.

Sony DOES owe it's userbase... They just do. A free game PSN game and 30 days of Plus and an upgraded network should be enough to appease everyone.

I wonder if people that left DC Universe Online will start playing again since we get a free month

By the time I downloaded all the updates I've missed the free month would be over.

I think the answer is simple. PSN is free. If XBL would have encountered this problem, I'd expect compensation for the money I paid to use their service.

Ditto. You arent paying for anything to use the PSN. The only ones I can see reasonably upset are the DCU subscribers but they will be compensated for time loss.

It DID take steps to keep user information safe. Unfortunately the fact is there is no such thing as an unhackable system. If a skilled hacker wants in, then they will find a way. Its riduculous to hear comments such as Sony gave the information away or that they had no preventative measures in place. Sony isnt the first company to have its user information compromised and it wont be the last. Just last month I got an email from Best Buy telling me that as a Rewardzone member, they found out that someone obtained unauthorized access to user info. Do I expect BB to send me a gift card to compensate for that? Heck no. This happens more times than one might realize but in the PS3's case it got blown up to massive proportions with people demanding handouts from Sony bc they feel entitled to it. The pending class action lawsuit has got to be among the worse. All those people expecting a judge to award monetary payouts are going to be in for quite a dissapointment

Im super excited for the PSN to be back online... The PSN+ and everything is cool.. I think Sony is doing a good job of handling this whole situation.

Free month of Plus?
That's great. If I like it, I might adhere to the service.

At least Sony is compensating people.

Indeed and I'm happy with what they're giving us, though honestly, it wouldn't bother me if all they did was acknowledge what happened. For some people though, it would take the CEO of Sony throwing himself on his blade on stage to satisfy them.

What would you have us do? I could b**ch and moan and then what? I'd be back to using PSN anyway to be able to play with my buddies again.

Whats there to forgive? Its not like Sony personally wronged me. Why is ALL the hate and contempt being thrown Sony's way and not the bastards that actually attacked them? Its like someone breaking into your friends apartment and robbing them including an item or 2 of yours you left there and then turning around and being mad at your friend for having the audacity to be robbed while not being mad at criminals who actually did it.

I still think some of you are way to forgiving.

Here is my point of view. Everything can be hacked. That's just a fact of life. Credit card companies, websites, NASA, Military bases, the United Nations, and even the Secretary of Defense have been hacked. Just recently my Yahoo account was hacked and, in a separate incident, BOA had to send us new cards because of a hack. It is just how it is. The hackers are to blame here, not Sony. So far nothing has been verified as being stolen. The only thing we have lost for sure is the use of PSN. Sony has gone above and beyond to tighten it's security and have been upfront about what happened. That's all I wanted really.

And there goes the complaints as expected...

i'm not complaining, i'm grateful for anything we may be getting. but my point was sony have offer a bunch of stuff and 98% of people will think ahh great so what the problem again

and that shouldn't happen.
