He will be Barry Allen for the exact same reason whoever plays GL will be Hal Jordan. Those are the GL and Flashes that DC uses everywhere else when it comes to appealing to a general audience in 2014. From Lego to postage stamps to video games and cartoons. I also wouldn't be surprised if that's why they're holding the GL reboot for last. Get rid of the stigma of the last Hal Jordan among the public consciousness first by giving him a great showing in JL.

Sigh....the timing of this announcement seems so weird. People right now are in love with Grant Gustin and he's kust starting out and now theyre basically already alrready taking the wind from underneath his sails. I knew this was inevitable but I wouldve AT LEAST given the tv show a chance to shine.

Not really, most people don't watch the CW shows anyway. We knew the DCCU version will be the main Flash for the public... and now we know Ezra will be Barry, they should make the CWverse Earth 2 or whatever.

I've calmed down a bit. Looking at Ezra, I will say I'm glad Snyder didn't go with a bodybuilder type actor like Affleck, Cavill, Momoa, Fisher. I always felt Flash (and Cyborg really) should be the young ones but Flash should be physically the skinniest and smaller in height.

He's better then Gal is for WW since word is he's a good actor but I've seen him in one film.

I'm willing to give him a shot but Aaron Paul would have been better.

Actually it's curious that they cast another slim brunette as The Flash. Seems like that's the way DC and WB are looking to market the character when it comes to movie and TV audiences as opposed to the more averagely built blonde guy that Barry normally is.

Well, you know that site is full of trolls and immature people, many of whom bashed the casting of Grant Gustin because he wasn't blond, too skinny...

I'm wondering if they will do a complete origin story or just show it via flashbacks like The Incredible Hulk did, then move on to the main story, it would be more interesting IMO, but we'll see. WB did a great job keeping this secret, not a single casting rumor regarding the Flash, well done when you see all the big Star Wars leaks so far.

Ezra is good, and this is an intriguing choice.

Warner Brothers surely cast against character now, let's just hope that the really unecpected decisions actually pay off. Or else it will be a completely failure.

Hopefully not. The last thing they need is to keep making light characters dark.
