Ezra Miller IS the Flash

In all honesty I've no idea who he is will have to look up his films.

He was terrifying in We Need to Talk About Kevin. The guy is pretty charming and funny in the few interviews I've seen.

I like how all of the DC heroes are brunettes/black hair, they remind me of the children of the corn. Oh lawd.

I guess The Flash will be a serious character, with some darkness to him.

Ezra is good, and this is an intriguing choice.

Warner Brothers surely cast against character now, let's just hope that the really unecpected decisions actually pay off. Or else it will be a completely failure.

Remember all the bashing when Grant Gustin was cast? The same garbage some are repeating regarding Ezra Miller: he doesn't look the part, too skinny, not masculine enough, blahblahblah...

But like Gustin, Miller is a great actor and will get in shape. A more relevant question is, will he be Barry or Wally? If WB wants to diversify, then it should be Wally. If later on they decide to do a Crisis movie, they can use Barry and crossover both universes, bang!

I personally thought he would've been a brilliant Dick Grayson, but I'm optimistic for him. Talent trumps everything, after all. And I certainly wouldn't say of the Flash's have been established concretely enough where someone as unconventional like Ezra can't succeed.

I don't remember Gustin bashed. He knocks it out the park to some people, I think he is ok so far.

I wouldnt be surprised if they take the total serious approach to him but that would just be weak on their part.

Sigh....the timing of this announcement seems so weird. People right now are in love with Grant Gustin and he's kust starting out and now theyre basically already alrready taking the wind from underneath his sails. I knew this was inevitable but I wouldve AT LEAST given the tv show a chance to shine.

Maybe Warner Bros try a little bit too hard here.

I like the actor. Clearly gonna have to change his look a bit. Hopefully he is good in the role.

Ezra Miller? Whoa, I never even thought about him as Barry, but I can actually see that. :wow: I loved him on The Perks of Being a Wallflower. He definitely has that charismatic quality about him. He's going to kill it.

This is pretty much what I wanted for Flash. People kept suggesting Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Charlie Hunnam, etc, and I just didn't feel another traditionally hawt guy was what was needed to set apart the Flash character, or the Flash movie. It would have been "just another superhero". I wanted unconventional, and this guy is it. Also, he's the first JL cast member with solid critical acclaim under his belt other than Affleck (and maybe the Cyborg dude, who I'm unfamiliar with but who was in theatre), and that's a big plus.

Agreed. That's another reason I'm dissatisfied with the split TV/movie universe. It just makes more sense in my head to consolidate the franchises, but whatever. A topic for another thread.

A name recognition from a good actor would have picked up some steam though Nemeres. Imagine "Chris Pine announced as the Flash" :o

This guy looks nothing like Barry Allen. :whatever:

Neither does Grant Gustin yet the show is fine.

Actually it's curious that they cast another slim brunette as The Flash. Seems like that's the way DC and WB are looking to market the character when it comes to movie and TV audiences as opposed to the more averagely built blonde guy that Barry normally is.

So were you confused when Smallville was on TV while Superman Returns was out? :woot:

Interesting choice.

May not be Barry Allen in the solo film.

I don't know this guy, can't comment.

He's 22, so he'll be 25 before THE FLASH starts shooting. Plenty of time to grow into the role.

Given on how the new 52 has changed the sexual orientation for some heroes, do you guys think they'll now do so with the flash in this film due to ezra's casting?

Note, I don't say that in a prejudice way and the only work of ezra's that I've seen was the perks film, which I thought he did a great job in.

On SV he wasn't Superman, he was just Clark Kent though. It makes it different to see them as full heroes in both versions. The name and the costume definitely makes it different than Clark Kent being called the blur...

That would hurt the T.V shows.

Oh God. I hope not. Even Fox wasn't that stupid with Ellen Page.

People keep using the Smallville/SR situation as an example but those were compleltey different versions of Clark Kent at different stages of his life. This is literally two different fully costumed Flashes.

There are some benefits to him playing Barry, such as the 'Barry' fans on TV(given it's CW I'm not sure how many that actually means) will have a smother transition. Like if they made a movie about Ollie, even if it was recast, people would know who Ollie is. That being said, gosh darn the Wally option seemed so obvious here.

Damn you Johns. Barry/Hal/Barry/Hal/Barry/Hal.
