Ezra Miller IS the Flash

Oh God I thought this was a joke until I looked it up. Why did they change Wally? I'm all for diversity but Wally is such an established character and the only Flash that I've known reading comics. I'm also black by the way before anyone makes an issue of my comments. I don't read the Flash solo titles but if they wanted to change Flash's race then I would've gone with Bart over Wally.

I guess Miller is going to be Barry Allen then.

They changed his race?

Then I think it's senseless to expect Ezra to be Wally.
Many things they did so far have been according to New 52 and if this is how Wally is depicted in New 52, they surely won't go against the comics. It would make a lot of confusion.

With this new information, this matter is settled for me. He is Barry.

So glad fans dont get to make the decisions. What people aren't getting about this Ezra casting is the female demo. This guy Ezra is bi not gay and young women love him. He's gonna be a superstar when BvS/JL comes out. On the Avengers/Loki level. This was a A+ casting for DC.

Slightly off topic but changing Wally's race was the least of anyone's worries when it came to New 52 Wally who might as well be named Jason Todd

Clearly the media outlets are reporting wrong on that aspect. I don't know who's gay or not that has played Comic characters but I'm sure Ian Mckellen who's openly gay and played Magneto in the Xmen does come before Miller as Flash.

As is Ellen Page.

And Anna Paquin is bisexual.

Again, X-Men gets shafted :argh::argh:

He definitely looks like a teen heartthrob type. More importantly he is a good actor but pretty boy looks will not hurt at all.

To be fair, they did say "openly gay." Ellen Page just recently came out and Anna Paquin came out late into True Blood.

McKellan was definitely openly gay though.

You should know that doesn't actually mean anything. Whatever race anyone is, they have the right to want to see characters depicted in a more purist way and they have a right to want to see something different.

At any rate, from what I've read, them changing his race isn't really the big issue. The main problem is they've given him the stereotypically "troubled" background.

I want a redheaded Flash! It goes with the costume!

I was pretty shocked too, that's why I shared it. I don't get a chance to read comics anymore, so I started to do a little research originally thinking he looked more like Bart Allen than any of them. But Wally looks totally different now I guess.

Well, looking into it more, I didn't realize they made him black.

In my original thing he just looks....non-white I guess (?)

I don't think there's anything stereotypical about Wally being "troubled".

His situation very closely parallels Barry's.
His city was basically destroyed, his parents are out of the picture, and his most loved male role model is in prison (his uncle Daniel, the Reverse Flash). He doesn't lash out at society in general, he lashes out specifically at The Flash. For failing to protect the city, and for taking his uncle away from him. He's absolutely "troubled" but not in the sense that he's just some young black kid senselessly committing crimes. He's a scared, confused, angry young man who is going through many of the same things Barry himself had to as a child.

Wally gets in trouble for painting anti-Flash graffiti on a wall, and eventually Barry tries to help him (at Iris' urging).

Just like Superman Returns and Smallville, one actor to play the movie version of the character, while another plays the TV version.

so do you guys think GL will show up in JL 1 or JL 2? Cause damn.. I was really hoping to see dat GL/Flash relationship in JL 1...:(

He will definitely show up. If DC is smart they'll use the inevitable popularity of the JL films to 'Hulk up' GL.

By Hulk up I mean make him awesome while sort of riding the coat tails of those films. And if they play their cards right people will come out of the JL movies saying "WOW I want a GL solo film" The same way the Hulk was made awesome in the Avengers.

Even though I personally kinda enjoyed TIH I know people weren't exactly demanding TIH 2 or anything.

I honestly think DC is approaching all of this pretty smart.

Ezra Miller is the most "out-of-the-box" castings ever. Let's hope he will blow us away with his performance.

Still sad that WB didn't pick Chris Pine for the role.

I'm glad that WB didn't pick any of the cliche fan boy dream castings actually. I've always been a card carrying member of the "get the person who gave the best screen test" club though.

Day two.

Still love this choice.

Maybe he's gonna be Hal. :o

Wouldn't getting the guy currently playing James T. Kirk to play Hal Jordan be super redundant?

Also I'm pretty sure his schedule is more than busy with his commitment to one genre franchise as it is. It would be impossible for him to juggle 2 unless he wants to be typecast forever and avoid all other types of projects altogether between Star Trek films.

How do you pronounce it? Emphasis on The Flez (which is what he is) or on the Ra like Mumm-Ra?

I think emphasis on the Flez part. Just the Flez can work too. Aquamoa needs to stick, somebody should get working on a t-shirt design like the BatFleck ones.

Someone needs to give Batfleck a Batfleck t-shirt at Comic Con next year.
