Guys, prepare for the Xbox Live servers to get smashed to pieces by everyone downloading Fallout 4 and the backwards-compatible Xbox 360 game, Fallout 3 on November 10, 2015

Remember in E3 when Based Howard said "We even create a baby based off of what you and your partner look like?"

POTENTIAL MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR FALLOUT 4

it's heavily implied that there will be a some-what reunion with someone from your family, whether it be husband, wife, or child. In the leaked Trophy Chart for FO4 we see a Nuclear Family Trophy and the icon is Vault Boy next to an older Wastelander with hearts around it. Could that be a family member? Maybe the child based off of how you create your character? Who knows. I don't. Well, Bethesda does.

Majority of buyers are still physical, so I don't think it'll affect the service a whole lot.

WOOT! Just pre-ordered on G2play. $45! Can't wait to play. I actually took the day off. LOL

Looks good even if it's just the console version. They were able to pump out a decent amount of graphics for consoles. I figure this is around medium settings on PC.

so did they optimize the UI for this game for a console? Oblivion and Fallout 3 were optimized for a mouse/keyboard setup but they changed the interface with Skyrim to one that is more fitting with a gamepad. Have they talked about the controls and UI with this game?

UI looks different, but the controls should be the same as Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

So, I've never played a Fallout game and I don't want to jump on the hype train simply for the sake of following the masses.

The only Bethesda game I played was Skyrim and I liked it a lot, in the sense of gameplay style, world size, number of things to do overall. Is Fallout similar in those areas?

different setting but yeah. Fallout trades the bows and swords for guns and clubs. The VATS system is the primary gameplay element that distinguishes it whereas Skyrim had magic and spells. I would liken it to GTA vs RDR. You can clearly see common threads between the games, while still having its own identity and flavor.

Hmm, I remember debating whether I should get RDR at the time, because the setting didn't really appeal to me, and I ended up buying it and loving it. With Skyrim, it was the same, except I opted to rent it first based on hype and played for a few days and couldn't get into it, so I sent it back to Gamefly, but then a few months later, after all the hype died down, I rented it again and ended up buying the Legendary Edition.

I generally love open world games, especially ones that give you so much to do that you don't know where to begin. That's kinda why I'm not sure whether I'll like this, The Witcher 3 or MGS V, but with Black Friday coming along, I'm willing to give them all a try and possibly buy if there are good enough deals coming along. I just don't know when I'm going to have time to play through them all because they all seem like massive games that have over 100 hours of content each and my backlog is already building.

This doesn't make sense to me...the reason you love open world games is also the reason you are unsure you'll love an open world game, let alone one of THE BEST in the genre?

Target is doing their annual B2G1 sale next week so you can get all 3 for $40 each

What I meant was, I love open world games, but in the case of something like the Witcher, it's a franchise I have no past knowledge of and nothing to compare it to, so much like was the case with Skyrim, it's more hesitant based on the content.

Like that's the case for a game like AC: Syndicate, where regardless of what the reviews might say, I know 100% that I'm down to try and more than likely buy because I already know what I'm getting myself into. The fact that I have no past knowledge of the Witcher or Fallout is that I don't know if I'm going to like the world, so I don't want to just buy the games based off word of mouth or popular opinion. Like Bloodborne is another example. I've heard great things, but I'm not interested enough by what I've seen to want to try it, at least not yet.

Yeah, I've been following many deals and I may end up getting those three next week, but I feel like I could at least get MGS V for less than that, and I've seen the Witcher for at least $40 already, so I'm expecting that to drop more too by Black Friday, and right now Amazon has Fallout 4 available for $50 for Prime members, but I don't expect it to go lower. If I do bite on the deal next week, it'll probably be to get NBA and WWE 2k16, since I don't see those dropping below $40 based on trends from the past few years.

I'm also considering Best Buy's GCU club but that depends on what the BF sales look like across all the major stores.

MGS and Witcher may likely be less than $40, but I doubt that for Fallout 4. You could always buy 3 games and return two, essentially giving you Fallout 4 for $40. Best Buy has their B2G1 sale after BF. It usually comes in Dec, before Christmas and with GCU, it comes out to $32 a game. Why dont you already have it? Its the best deal in gaming. Im shocked when those that are more than simply casual gamers dont have that

I honestly didn't hear about it much until last year, but I was out of a job and wasn't able to buy anything, let alone games. Now, I have a job again and have been saving money, which is how I'm finally going to get a PS4 and how I'm planning to get at least 10 games, most of which I've missed out on in the past 2 years. So far, I've gotten AC: Unity and Saint's Row IV with Gat Out of Hell, both for $10 each from Gamefly. I'm happy enough with just those, but I really want to get as much as I can by Black Friday and hopefully all of that can tide me over for the next 6 months.

That makes sense. It wasn't clear in your last post.

For what it's worth, I too had no knowledge of the Witcher series (games or books) before playing The Witcher 3. I was never lost or confused, though the game gives plenty of info and even character bios if you need or want them.

It really is one of the best RPG games out there. The combat is great (mix of swords and magic), the story is wonderful, graphics are stellar, and there is plenty to do.

If you liked RDR and Skyrim, I think you'll like this. Like Skyrim, it's a fantasy game, but it treats the world so much more realistically, even though there are monsters, dwarves, sorceresses and elves. I would highly recommend giving it a shot.

While I've been at work, something I've been doing is listening to Video game "movies," which are essentially the cut-scenes mixed with some gameplay, of various games new and old, and I stopped watching the Witcher because it looks like something I may play at some point and I don't want to risk spoiling it, even though I don't know when I might ever play it. But the fact that I keep hearing that new content was being released in addition to what what already released, I can't help but feel like it's something I should like. It's just that unfamiliarity factor that has kept me away.

With Fallout, it's almost the same case, except the hype seems so much bigger, and I'm familiar with a past Bethesda game, and I'm wondering if there are core similarities. I liked Skyrim, but I was never big on the fantasy elements that they have, and that, along with the fact that its an MMORPG, is a big reason why I've stood away from Elder Scrolls Online. But with this, I was actually planning on getting Fallout 3 or New Vegas, but I just haven't had much time to play games in general, and at this point, there's no point in going back to a PS3 game when there's a massive, prettier PS4 game available.
