But they hired Trank in the first place because he was going to be able to keep it under budget and make it cheaply while supposedly making it look more expensive. But if they've had to go over budget anyway to correct the Trank problem, then that defeats the whole purpose of hiring him in the first place.

Is this going to be Trank's last film in Hollywood, or will he get another gig?

I read other articles before the HR one. So, I was confused about comments where people were talking about rumors of Trank's behavior or whatever. Is this just new stuff coming out to public or is old?

We still did not have any kind of confirmation on Trank's relationship with Fox and if it was bad or good, etc.


The being taken off the Star Wars movie is new, at least to me.

Interesting. Given how much people seem to gunning for this film's failure, I would have assumed such rumors would have had more coverage.

The question is whether Trank really did just make Chronicle 2, and then others have tried to correct that in post production so that it's not so much of that kind of film, or whether Trank made something other than a quasi sequel to his own movie.

But I thought this is what Fox wanted in the first place. Unless they maybe changed their minds later on when they got negative feedback.

I was one of those people who said that the rumors are ******** and came from disgruntled fanboys and his directing Star Wars proved that the rumors were false. Eventually I came to believe something was up, what that is we don't 100% know but something obviously went down during the filming of Fantastic Four.

All we can do is hope that reshoots and editing saved the film.

Probably Jim Gianopulos the Fox Chairman, I'm sure the old Trank house trashing rumour included the claim that Gianopulos had to come out to personally apologise to the owner of the house.

I know he meant well, but I just think he never thought it through. He wanted to make his version of the FF without consulting the source material. And he just walks away from Star wars? Yes, he's making a personal decision alright. Just like it was his personal decision to stay home when he had the worst flu of his life.

Why do Lucasfilms and/ or Fox even allow him to save face? Fox and Kinberg maybe will come out and say what really went down after FFINO comes out. Maybe they're not wanting to say anything to avoid negative publicity for FFINO?

But even losing Star Wars is somewhat negative publicity in itself, because people will begin to question this FF reboot (as if they aren't already).

Fox should just sell the distribution to this film to The Asylum. Fant4stic looks to be as accurate to Fantastic Four as Transmorphers is to oldschool Transformers.

I've always wondered if the bad behaviour stuff was down to the filming having a really crappy atmosphere. He had the script with his chosen scriptwriter dumped and Kinberg brought in to rewrite and take control, then there were the rumours of Fox trying to replace him. It can't have been a fun job which could have caused stress and any personal problems to flare up. So him stepping down could be a combination of Disney being worried about his performance and Trank being burned on the big studio environment.
