So, if Fox don't feel like they can fix this with a sequel and let the rights revert, how's this for the cast?

Matthew McConaughey - Reed Richards

Emily Blunt - Invisible Woman

Cam Gigandet - Human Torch

Seth Rogan - Thing

Sergej Trifunovic - Doom

There you go, your Marvel Studios Fantastic Four cast which is far more comic accurate than what Fox put out.
Human Torch is the same age as Spiderman. It would be better to consider that when casting for him in the MCU.

he's not wrong but lol!!!!!

Define "plenty"? Were people who were on the fense wow'd by what they saw or just the same people who've been nodding their heads to whatever they see and hear about this film?

people interested in the film remained interested in the film

i'm not gonna bother defining the word "plenty" for you

It just sounds as though "plenty" is a little exaggerated is all.

I wonder if that'll be enough.

Compared to other films, Twitter was a wasteland with the unmistakable sound of crickets chirping.

Sure, when you've got a room packed with Fox fans who have just been the first to see the new trailer, you're going to have a few excited people.

But there were only a few.

And more disconcerting than that very muted response were descriptions that basically told us there was nothing new or exciting.

We'll see for ourselves soon, but based on the response, I'm not expecting much.

Plenty on Twitter loved it

There wasn't a lot of negative about it, or positive...there wasn't much of anything on twitter at all about #FantasticFour.

"Plenty" is not a word I would use to describe the number of negative or positive responses.

Not much of an accomplishment. I doubt Fox was setting the bar that low.

i mean, they set that bar themselves. they hired a director to make a film and the director made a **** ton of changes that pissed a lot of people off and rubbed a lot of hardcore fans the wrong way. add in the fact that there's disturbing rumors around the director and that's where we are today. a lot of these changes were never going to win hardcore FF fans over.

this is pretty accurate. the reception is mixed, just like it was back in january when the first trailer came out.

The "plenty" of positive tweets were likely from those paid plants that psylockolossus let slip. ;)

i am incredibly surprised there was no obvious boo-ing from the crowd. i think Fox should feel fortunate about that.

Sounds like a bust then. I think we all expected it but I felt there was a reasonable chance that nerds hardcore enough to attend SDCC would still be enthusiastic. At least Deadpool is on the right track.

I actually think some booing would have been better than what we saw. Booing would have shown passion and gotten people talking. Those people booing would be telling their friends why they were booing and in doing so would spread the word about the film. And booing would have energized those on the other side. Both sides would be showing up on opening weekend. The supporters to show the booers were wrong and the booers to hate-watch.

But what we saw was worse than all that. What we saw was apathy and apathy is a lot worse than publicity generating love/hate for a film like this.

Exactly.

Both Deadpool and Apocalypse had footage leak. Anyone find footage for this?

Is this really something you believe?

Yeah just saw some footage from DP, I wasn't blown away like everyone else was but it wasn't bad.

Twitter Index Updated: Sat Jul 11 at 09:57PM PDT

Film # Tweets
1 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 205,934
2 Star Wars: The Force Awakens 94,669
3 Deadpool 60,153
4 Minions 44,882
5 Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials 26,339
6 Jurassic World 25,522
7 The Gallows 17,793
8 Paper Towns 14,597
9 Fantastic Four 14,552

Nobody cares about this film obviously only being number 9

Couple things here.

1. Now subtract the tweets referring to One Direction, people calling themselves and their buddies"The Fantastic Four", the comics, the Story films, etc. Many tweets about "The Fantastic Four" have nothing to do with this movie.

2. Congratulations, there's less buzz for this than Paper Towns, a film on track to make significantly less than Fantastic Four has to make to come close to breaking even.

Absolutely. Have you ever heard the phrase "there's no such thing as bad publicity"?

Just look at 50 Shades of Gray to get a sense for how true that is.

if there's no such thing as bad publicity then this film will be ok when you consider all the damn rumors surrounding it and the director.

As someone that works in marketing, that statement is utter nonsense. A major publisher that's putting out a product that's meant to garner mass appeal does not what said product to be publicly lambasted shortly before it releases. Brand safety is one of the biggest concerns within entertainment marketing. Bad publicity is not brand safe.
