That said, Kinberg is now coming very close to admitting that it's a disaster so who knows? Between Teller and Kinberg's comments, I really can't bring myself to want to see this until reviews hit.

I remember one journalist pointing out that Kinberg and Vaughn both seemed to be going out of their way to talk about how it was "Trank's vision".

That journalist speculated that they were doing that to distance themselves and use Trank as the scapegoat. If you read this interview with that in mind, it certainly seems to fit. Kinberg doesn't seem to be trying to sell the film as much as he's saying it's Trank's movie . . . good or bad.

Admitting that Trank was out of his league since he was an inexperience indie filmmaker who jumped to a tentpole after only one film.

He didn't say that, though.

Some of you keep essentially quoting him on things he didn't actually say.

You can speculate all you want about what the things he says mean, but he didn't say half of those things.

This man is a producer/writer. This isn't his first rodeo. Do you really think he's going to "hint" at a film being lousy that he's attached to?

I don't think it has anything to do with scapegoating. I think this is actually Josh Trank's vision, and that's what sold the studio (Trank has also talked about it being his vision, is he trying to scapegoat himself?). Kinberg's not going to be able to scapegoat his way around the fact that he wrote much of the script and was directly involved in the production.

To quote Kinberg directly: "Whether people like it or not, it was his [Trank's] vision."

When it comes to distancing oneself, it doesn't get any more transparent than that.

Ah ... I've been waiting for the inevitable "They'll fix it in the sequel" statement. When will people acknowledge Fox doesn't know what they're doing with this property? How many failures are needed? Just curious.

Fox is a studio that usually follows the producer/directors vision. Singer is that for X-Men and Reynolds and Tatum is that for Deadpool and Gambit. They trusted Trank with it and had to bring in Kinberg to right the ship as much as possible.

The Fantastic Four in the hands of Vaughn or Singer? Will be a different AND probably better vision.

But wasn't the context of that conversation pretty much that he and the studio supported Josh Trank all the way and stood behind him?

:funny: I was actually going off my general memory of the gist of the article. I didn't even realize when I wrote my post how direct his language was.

yeah......... i think between Kinberg and the incredibly awkward cast interviews on this film... it doesn't take a genius to see their lack of faith in this film....

No actor or people working on the film are going to blatantly bad mouth the film (they'd get in trouble with FOX) But they CLEARLY arn't praising it or excited about it like most films team do with this kinda film

Hasn't exactly worked out for them. And what you are proposing is completely hypothetical. I prefer to look at their track record. Meanwhile, Fox is hiring people who openly admit "I find Fantastic Four a hard book to adapt." In other words, we don't really know how to do this.

Could people here actually give the movie a chance, like actually see it and TRY, oh god, TRY to view it from a non-biased perspective. It's well known that when you expect to hate something, you will hate it, no matter how much you pretend to be open-minded about it.

Josh Trank did not do anything to you, nor did Simon Kinberg, nor did Kate Mara, or Miles Teller, or Michael B. Jordan, or Jamie Bell.

What's happening with F4 is a clear example of cyberbullying.

Except that if you look at the actual words they're saying, they are praising it, and have been.

I'm not sure how excited you want them to be, exactly. Is there an appropriate level of excitement or certain words they have to say for people to believe them when they speak?

Yeah, that lack of faith seems pretty much across the board. If this thing is a hit, I think the people who will be most surprised are the ones who made it. :funny:

He did not say that.

He said the tone of the book is tricky.

And it kind of is. And fans even admitted that prior to this movie being made, and there was all kinds of talk about "What should the tone of this movie be? How should they balance superhero with science, etc." Much like there is with any modern superhero movie these days.

You're asking people to try something when they've been completely turned off by everything they've seen and heard? To spend their hard earned money on something that doesn't look in the slightest way appealing?

Not sure if this video has been posted, but I know C.Lee and others did talk about this interview:

Not how I interpret it.

Can you remind me which article you're referring to?

Because the interview Kinberg said that in, I recall him pretty much saying something along the lines of "This is the vision Trank had, the studio and I got onboard and we support his vision".

He did say that. I'm quoting him verbatim. Read the article.

Anyone remember Kinbergs cryptic leaked email to Amy Pascal hinting that he told various studio executives "the truth about Josh Trank"? Yeah, context clues people. The picture becomes very clear when you look at it knowing what all has come before.

I'm not even sure why you posted this. I didn't call anyone stupid.

No, the stupid was implied. The angry, paranoid and over-sensitive were clearly stated.

Like minded FF fans saw a cheap rights-grab bearing no resemblance to the classic source material being put into production and called out those responsible. It's really not that fascinating.

I don't know about you, but I don't spend money to see films that don't look good.

If the reviews are very good, I'll give it a try, but the trailers and everything else I've seen and read haven't sold me. I decide to go to a movie or not based primarily on the trailers and reviews. If the trailers look bad (as these do), I generally don't go unless the reviews convince me there's something to the film that I missed in the trailer. I'm treating this film like any film. The trailers didn't do it for me, so now it has to get not just good but great reviews.

Why should I buy a product that doesn't look like something I want?

If you can't tell how this sort of "interviews" differ greatly than other summer block busters... i suggest you watch and read more interviews.

For someone who people are saying seemed like he didn't want to be there, Teller sure did show some personality/rib his castmates in the middle of the interview.

I do like all I've heard about the chemistry of the four of them. It's hard to get a read on something like that from the trailers.
