Kinberg on EW defending the film while basically avoiding talking about any of the rumours of problems (like that he was supposed to have been the one that got Trank kicked off Star Wars), he even claims that the film was under budget (which would be impressive considering all of the reshoots).

Why would anyone expect Kinberg to bring up the most noxious, personal rumors about the director during what appears to be a fairly casual interview? He did sort of address rumors of it being a difficult production.

What does it say that the producer in all his defense for it just not be a Disaster but "Its a good movie". That's it? Its a good movie??? Just let the franchise die and be born again with Marvel. Another quote that had me scratching my head.
"I find Fantastic Four a hard book to adapt. I think the tone is very tricky it. It’s deceptively simple"
.Cause Kinberg YOU DON'T GET IT !!! so why did you make this movie... Oh I know why...

This is pathetic...

Gotta love a headline that includes the quote: "It's not a disaster." for a film the week it's opening. :funny:

And the feigned perplexedness regarding why fans aren't happy is really getting annoying. Kinberg has been telling us for the past year that they're not making the film we want because he has ways to make it 'more interesting' than the comic book we love. And then he wonders why we aren't happy.

It isn't a secret. We've been telling him exactly what we want and he's been saying "F*** You, you're not getting that, but you'll take what you get and like it."

And then he acts confused about why fans aren't happy.:whatever:

Kinberg saying that the movie is good, and not great or whatever else sounds much closer to the truth than if he just flat out said the movie is fantastic, etc.

I'd guess he is being a little cute with that "We came in on schedule, under budget" thing.... At the end of principle photography last year perhaps, so the statement can be seen as true.

Overall, right now, with redone fx and reshoots aplenty? I suspect not.

No, Man of Steel was a film where you either think it's the greatest CBM of all time or complete rubbish with no middle ground. TASM 2 was just seen as mediocre all around by nearly everyone.

I thought Man of Steel was a decent, if very flawed 6 out of 10 type of film.

I thought TASM2 was one of the worst CBMs made.

At this point, unless it's Nolan-good, I honestly expect this film to be savaged by fanboys and critics alike, regardless of whether it's a decent movie or not.

People have just been rubbed the wrong way by pretty much everything from the word go, and I think that's because this all started out on the wrong foot. The production was probably too secretive in general from the start and didn't give enough fanservice, and that made fanboys paranoid and angry, and that made people pick at every little thing they did hear and overinterpret pretty much anything anyone says into something negative...and its just snowballed from there. Many of the websites and blogs and media outlets have fed into that paranoia/hatred with headlines like "It's Not a Disaster" and various other things for clickbait. It's been somewhat fascinating to watch, really.

I think, in a sense, Four fandom got their feelings hurt, and there has been a lot of sensitivity and people seemingly being personally offended by broad statements people on the production have made, sometimes even in jest.

I've never seen that for a movie before. I've never seen this level of personal attacks against filmmakers, stars, etc, and an almost hopefulness that a movie is bad. Well, not from a group. I've seen that from individuals on SHH.

This isn't an excuse if it's a bad film. If its truly a badly made movie, I'll admit its a bad film, but I still wouldn't be surprised to find that this is a solid film, and that people will just decide everything about it is awful because they dont like some of the creaive choices about it, or were just pre-disposed to hate it. That seems to be the fanboy mentality anymore, and its never been clearer than with this movie.

And yes, I know some of you just don't like that it's not as faithful as you'd like it to be, and are giving it a chance anyway, or simply not interested. I'm obviously not talking about you all.

"We came in on schedule, under budget, [with] a movie that was pretty true to the original intent of the film."

I might be reading into this too much but .... that seems like an odd comment to make. Why does Kinberg feel the need to assure audiences that the film's original intent made it on film when supposedly there were no major issues/reshoots?

Remember the oft reported theory on these boards that the public was completly unaware of the production drama and fan outrage and that it wouldn't have any impact on FFINO's BO? Good times......

The site which won't be mentioned is usually reliable when it comes to these types of scoops. Plus the IMDB posters offered no indication that they were actually in Atlanta aside from stuff like, "my uncle works for Fox" which is a big red flag that it's not true.

That said, Kinberg is now coming very close to admitting that it's a disaster so who knows? Between Teller and Kinberg's comments, I really can't bring myself to want to see this until reviews hit.

How on Earth is "I'm proud of this film" coming anywhere near admitting it's a disaster?

At this point the films only goal is to make enough money in order to approve a sequel, which I'm sure they can fix whatever they need to fix and they'll get another director (either Singer or Vaughn) to execute.

At least he's being honest.

Admitting that Trank was out of his league since he was an inexperience indie filmmaker who jumped to a tentpole after only one film.

Ah ... I've been waiting for the inevitable "They'll fix it in the sequel" statement. When will people acknowledge Fox doesn't know what they're doing with this property? How many failures are needed? Just curious.
