Fantasy Hockey Year:Three

I'll be up for the next little while... I hope we can agree to something the Commissioner will approve.

I'm leaving Friday morning on vacation, and will not have computer access for 2 weeks.

asking for a littel more since comish wont like it if you get too good ;). kubina is a joke add on. hes got 2 points and is from tonorontosuckers :down

I don't like involving my goalies because I need them.

I offered you Eric Cole & Getzlaf for Crosby.

Simple trade... good players involved...

I know you don't like Carolina, but he's a good power forward.

Deal?

sent you counter offer with a golie and i put getzlaf as opposed to malkin.. dont know how much more even you can get there?

I'd really like to keep the goalies out, because I only have 2 starters... (Mason will be gone as soon as Vokoon is healthy), and then I'll lose all my goalie points.

Keep the original pitch, and ask me for a third player (I won't give up Malkin).

honestly.. right now..i think this is the best deal i can make.. crosby gets you two points a game at the very least.. and im offering him for a 2nd line center. we even out dmen... and yea.. you only got 2 starters. .but i only got one.. miller or nabokov evens this deal out

I sent you a counter offer. I hope it can work.

And remember... my other starter only plays every 2 games.

:csad:

Venom Drool, you don't have to drop Kolzig, you could drop one of your defensemen. I see you have 7 when you only need 6. But if you want to the trade should be a go.

First half of the Fantasy League is almost done.

Roenick's days in Phoenix numbered?
TSN.ca Staff 12/14/2006 10:58:48 AM

Jeremy Roenick's decision to walk out on the Phoenix Coyotes Tuesday night could have long term ramifications for his career in Arizona.

Roenick was scratched from Tuesday night's game against Vancouver for what was termed a back injury, despite the fact the veteran forward said he felt healthy enough to play. Rather than remain at the rink, Roenick elected to leave and ended up watching part of the game at a nearby restaurant while eating dinner.

The decision to abandon his teammates did not sit well with head coach Wayne Gretzky.

"I treat players like men and they should act like men," Gretzky tells the Arizona Republic. "JR, all and all, has been pretty positive. But the reality is, last night he made a mistake. There will be ramifications for what happened."

Roenick met with Phoenix Coyotes general manager, Mike Barnett, and head coach Wayne Gretzky on Thursday morning and acknowledged he was wrong in leaving General Motors place on Tuesday night.

Gretzky has already decided Roenick will sit tonight against Columbus with Mike Ricci replacing him in the lineup. Asked when Roenick might be back in the lineup, Gretzky replied: "I'm not sure right now."

Roenick says he respects Gretzky's decision to bench him but feels he did nothing wrong by leaving the arena.

"I was at the game for part of the game and then I went for dinner," Roenick tells the newspaper. "I don't think there is anything wrong with going and having a nice dinner, having a beer and watching the hockey game. I don't know why everybody is trying to create a stir or create a controversy."

Roenick, who signed a one year deal with Phoenix worth $1.2-million this past summer, has just one goal in 28 games and has been scratched from four of the last six games. Even he admits the end of the line is closer than ever.

"End of the (NHL) year, absolutely (I'll retire)," he tells the East Valley Tribune.

"The way it seems to be going right now, I don't think anybody would want to give me another chance to tell you the truth."

"(But) I'm not going to retire in the middle of the year and quit on anybody."

Sources say Roenick is prepared to accept his 4th line status with the team and intends to do what he can to help the Coyotes through the remainder of the regular season.

He's on pace to do the same results as he did last season even though he is in much better shape, but is on a crappier team.

Penguins future in further doubt
Canadian Press 12/20/2006 12:46:36 PM
PITTSBURGH (CP) - The future of the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins is uncertain after Isle of Capri Casino was denied a slots licence in the state capital Wednesday.

The state's Gaming Control Board in Harrisburg approved a licence for PITG Gaming Majestic Star of Detroit over Isle of Capri and a third bidder, Forest City Enterprises.

''Obviously, we are very disappointed that the Isle of Capri was not awarded the slots licence,'' Penguins CEO Ken Sawyer said in a statement, which began by congratulating the winning bid.

The licence was critical to the club's survival in Pittsburgh as Isle of Capri had promised to spend US$290 million to build the Penguins an arena. The Penguins need a new rink to replace the 45-year-old Mellon Arena, the oldest facility in the NHL.

''Had Isle of Capri been selected, it would have ensured the long-term future of the Penguins in Pittsburgh and would have delivered a $1-billion development opportunity to the Lower Hill and Uptown,'' Sawyer said. ''At this point, our franchise enters a period of uncertainty, with our lease at Mellon Arena set to expire this summer. We will re-evaluate all of our options before deciding on a course of action and making further comment.''

The decision comes less than a week after a deal to sell the team to Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie fell through.

PITG Gaming Majestic Star said previously it would contribute some money for a new arena over 30 years under a so-called ''Plan B'' being proposed by city and county officials that would include public funds. But that plan also calls for the Penguins to help pay for the rink and neither team owner Mario Lemieux or NHL commissioner Gary Bettman are believed to be fond of that plan.

''I am committed to what we said we were going to do,'' Don H. Barden, the head of PITG Gaming, said after winning the bid. ''We're going to fund $75 million a year for 30 years towards financing a new multipurpose arena.''

He said he will meeting soon with Allegheny County executive Dan Onorato and Pittsburgh mayor Luke Ravenstahl to get the process moving.

''It will be the largest of our operations and we're going to put a lot of attention on this project,'' Barden said. ''We're going to get it going right away.''

It's been a bad week for the Penguins, whose sale to Balsillie fell through last Friday after he pulled the plug, uncomfortable with the NHL's list of conditions in the final sale agreement.

Balsillie, the co-chief executive officer of BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Ltd (TSX:RIM), says he's still interested in trying to purchase the team.

''All it takes is three motivated parties and a five-minute phone call to get this deal back on track,'' Balsillie told globeandmail.com in an email after the slots licence decision Wednesday. ''We've fully studied the situation, and are prepared to complete the purchase and immediately commence good faith `Plan B' negotiations with the government officials to keep the team in Pittsburgh.''

Balsillie didn't immediately return a phone call to his Waterloo, Ont., home from The Canadian Press.

Toronto brewery owner Frank D'Angelo officially declared his interest in the Penguins on Monday. And he said he's willing to build and pay for his own arena in Pittsburgh and commit to keeping the team there.

D'Angelo, whose bid for a CFL franchise in Ottawa was recently turned down, says he and billionaire partner Barry Sherman are teaming up to make an offer.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, a Pittsburgh native, is also believed to have contacted the league although it's not clear how serious he is about making a bid.

Sucks for Penguin fans. But they don't even show up to games anyway. They have Jordan Staal, Malkin and Crosby and can't even sell out the building despite what D'Angelo said on Off The Record. He hasthe "used cars salesman with a rich friend" thing going on. Ovechkin and Semin played in Pittsburgh a couple weeks ago and 13,000 showed up. Right now they sit 16th overall in percentage total of seats sold. Something better happen soon because Lemiuex would like his $40 million and to get this franchise off his hands and Houston has a new building that could use another team.

Kansas City is also looking for a team for the New Sprint Center and we supported Minor League hockey for over ten years. Man I miss the KC Blade games. Also, way back in the day we had a NHL team, the KC Scouts. But at the time the city wasn't big enough to support a NHL team.

Why did the IHL/AHL Blades leave? Yeah the Scouts had a horrible start to their first season. First ten games were away and they didn't win any.

As the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks wrap-up a home-and-home at GM Place tonight, 29-year-old Jason Hall of London, Ont. will get the chance to become Canada's next millionaire when he shoots for $1 million in the Chevy Silverado Million Dollar Shootout contest.

The event will air live on TSN during the first intermission of the Flames/Canucks game. Should Hall score 15 or more goals into an open net in 24 seconds from the far blue line at GM Place, he will win $1 million in a windfall one-time payout.

In addition to the $1 million, Hall and two friends - Gord Cameron and Mason Ward - will shoot from centre ice for a chance to win up to five Next Generation Chevy Silverados.

Hall, a registered Nurse, played midget 'AAA' hockey in his hometown of North Bay, ON and took part in former NHLer Darren Turcotte's locally run hockey school for numerous years.
