After this movie, there's not much else to see this summer. It looks like pure fun and definitely one to watch with a big crowd opening night. (I usually prefer watching alone.)

I only wish they had shot this and 7 back to back so the end of this one could show scenes from the next one, kind of like Back to the Future Part 2 did.

Is it also true that the title card only reads Furious 6? That sounds so much better. Assuming the next one is going to be the last, they should call it Final Fast or something similar.

Idk about that. MOS, "Now you see me" and "This is The End" all seem promising.

So do they make any comment about
Han wanting to go to Tokyo since Giselle died? Any chance we see the race where Diesel wins that car from Han in the end of Tokyo Drift

I can't get excited about Superman. It just looks so uber-serious and heavy handed.

Does the movie actually say that
Staham's character's name is Ian Shaw?

The entire time he and her are talking about where they're going after this. Han asks her and she tells him Tokyo. So when she dies, he obviously wants to go there because it's where she wanted to go with him. Taj and Roman try and talk him out of it at the end, telling him they've got his back no matter what, if he ever needs them - but he insists he has to go to Tokyo.

Staham's character's name is Ian Shaw?

No. But there is a definite relation between them. At one point, Dom and Letty race and he beats her. When they finish the race they go and talk in an abandoned lot. She has amnesia and he goes down a list of her scars and tells her how she got them. When she's about to leave, he gives her the crucifix that she gave him. Shaw shows up right after she leaves and he and Dom have the "you have a code" exchange. Shaw opens with "my brother taught me that everyman has a code. Yours is family." After that scene wraps up - Shaw confronts Letty back at their base and questions her about Dom as she's holding the crucifix. He's concerned she remembers who he is and so after she argues that she doesn't, he takes the crucifix and when he tries to give it back to her she tells him to keep it. That's the last we see of the crucifix until Statham shows up and tosses it in Hans car at the end. It's pretty obvious that Statham is Shaw's brother and wants revenge on Dom.

QUESTION

I have never seen any of the F&F movies. Can I watch this without getting confused? I know the story isn't that complicated, but I really want to enjoy this movie.

You won't get confused - but I promise you won't care as much as if you had seen the previous ones.

If you have the time / money I'd recommend at least watching Fast 4 and 5 before hand. 1-3 you're not missing too much that has to do with this installment. And they do recap things. But... yeah. I'd watch 1,4,5 and wikipedia what happens in 3.

2 you can skip entirely unless you want an intro to Tyrese's character - which, after watching any of the other installments after 3 you'll want to do.

Thanks for the answer. I'll try to watch some of the other films beforehand.

I saw the freeway chase scene before Star Trek today, it was awesome! :D

Easily the best action scene of the movie. The final chase with the plane is pretty crazy, but the stuff they do with the tank is just insane.

You definitely need to watch the first one to understand the Letty relationship.

I say skip 2 unless you care to see Tyrese, Luda, and Eva Mendes and Brian calling people cuz.

3 just bc the post credits of 6 play a role in that movie.

4 bc it sounds like 6 ties directly into it.

5 bc it has the best action so far in the series. I honestly wouldn't have appreciated the characters if I didn't watch the other ones first.

Just got out of a screening for it. That s*** was straight BANANAS!!!!!

just caught the movie, the first half was quite boring but the second half made up for it. Really good exciting summer movie and definitely among the best in the franchise. Also the 3rd act and climax was pretty great and thoroughly enjoyed it, the service given to all characters were great, and the credits scene was a cherry on top. 8.5/10
the credits scene definitely got me pumped for the next one

It was a lot of fun - and there's actually some twists and turns that I didn't see coming.
The death of one of the members
Giselle
was pretty easy to expect but some other things were totally unexpected.

As far as the opening credits go - I don't recall what it was titled as. I was too busy getting goosebumps from the recap from all the movies underscored by an awesome song.

i really wish i hadn't read this now :wall:

Does this film show how and why Han and Dom ended up in Japan? Also, is the after credits scene the one we heard about months ago?
Showing Jason Stathem t-boning Han's car in Japan.

i am not venturing into this thread any more until i see the movie

Super excited about this. And like the IGN review states it's crazy to think that these movies have canon now ha. Who would have thought way back in 2001 that these movies would turn into what that are today. And what movie franchise can say the 5th movie is the best of the series? Next weekend is gonna be awesome for me, seeing this and hangover 3 and hanging in NYC with friends who I haven't seen in a while. Fun times!

You know what Tokyo drift is probably the only movie in the series that I wish wasn't canon or at least make it a alternate self contained story. It just feels so outta place with the other movies.I know 2 fast 2 furious and fast and furious 4 get hate but at least they move the main characters story forward. Tokyo drift has nothing to do with the main cast besides Han and was/is my least favorite fast movie. Though the setting and drift sequences were good.

I'd watch all of them. It's so much funner when you know the characters and see them all interact with each other. You'll care more about it.

Showing Jason Stathem t-boning Han's car in Japan.

Answer:

It tells why Han leaves for Japan, yes. Pretty obvious to start with that Dom goes because Han is killed but they also REALLY set that up with the last moment in the mid-credits scene.

And other answer:

Yes. Statham is tracking Han's car and t-bones him purposefully.

Sorry! I double spoiler tagged it just in case. But to be fair, before the movie I was talking to my friend about how I had a bad feeling for that character to begin with. Figured most would get it too.
