Fast and the Furious 9: The Fast Saga

If we are to play with the idea they go to space I wouldnt take it to mean they are going to fly X-wings around or drive on the moon.

If anything its going to be some kind of scene where Badass#1 and Badass#2 have hitched a ride onto some kind of Richard Branson like shuttle that takes them "into space" and they fight about on it and then both are some how blown out of the shuttle and have a moment of feeling zero gravity and then they fall down to earth fighting in the sky and Badass#3 comes in scoops the hero up.

That won’t do anything. If this virus isn’t under control by spring, then everything will get pushed back again. They might as well start shooting the last one and release them together.

‘Fast & Furious’ two last films Justin Lin directing both Vin Diesel – Deadline

We’re so franchise/IP crazy that even if this is “the end”, I doubt it’ll be the actual end. They’ll put it on ice for a bit and then about ten years later a sixty-something Dom Toretto is going to come out and say “Let’s ride.”

100%. Like Jason Vorhees, Vin will never die no matter if they call it The Final Furious. He'll rise again to race with some new 20 year olds only for him to beat every single one of them.

Seems unlikely they can push delays beyond spring. Not with investors putting ever increasing pressure on the studios. And the pressure of saving the theater industry is ever increasing. Maybe if Biden wins and decides to bail the theater chains out Hollywood will be inclined to continue delaying. Without a bail out Idk how theaters survive without major releases in the first half of next year.

I don't see how a major release would actually make a difference. You can put a movie in theaters, but you can't make people go see it, or make local state and/or federal government allow the theaters to be open in the first place.

Maybe if the studios did a release but reduced their own cut of the gross to nil, as a way to prop up the movie theaters. But if they were willing to do that, they might as well just pay the theaters in cash now, and save the movie for a later, actually profitable, release date.

Since these films are huge in China, they could only release it there and still make a profit. The pandemic hasn’t hurt their theatregoing one bit.

Tokyo Drift has always been the dark horse of the franchise. Sneaky good.

Then again I am not an avid fan of the franchise.

I'll die on the hill that Tokyo Drift is the best F&F movie.

Also if you find the idea of Lucas Black as a highschooler in TD to be funny, then the scene from 6, or is it 7 (?) when he talks to Vin Diesel after the race and have suddenly gotten 10 years older will really crack you up. :p

Well, this spot pretty much spoils the family gathering traditional ending for the FF films (Han hugging Sean and everything).

Also, the stunts of these films are going to crazy ridiculous territory now. What was with that car sliding sideways through that building and hitting that truck :funny:

Looked like some of the crazy sh*t I sometimes do on GTA V :D

Tokyo Drift has the best theme song. Still have it on my Driving playlist.

No idea what they're saying half the time tho

My personal fave FnF film is the very first one - because while ludicrous most of the stunts are possible in our universe.

But, Tokyo Drift is a very close second. Yeah Lucas Black is ridiculous as a high school kid, but so are Nathalie Kelly and Leonardo Nam.
I loved TD because it has several layers:

1) a street racing story that introduced a new ( to me) twist on the old concept, drifting.
( because the original premise was based on street racing, and has somehow morphed into international espionage)

2) a fish out of water story that is respectful towards Japanese culture and showcases some spectacular parts of urban Tokyo.

3) A romance that doesn't feel forced, and that makes sense as helping to drive the plot.

Add in Sonny Chiba as a Yakuza boss ( with Tak Kubota as a bodyguard) and you have a winning recipe IMO.

I think it's criminally underrated.

And they had that concert leading up to the trailer. Probably not a good idea in hindsight

Still won’t make as much as it would have pre covid. This franchise does really well overseas and I don’t see other countries being as vaccinated as the US will be by then
