Since we have a similar thread for Lex, It's only fitting Lois should have a similar thread as well! :awesome:

Lois Lane, one of the most iconic female characters in all of comics, played by many wonderful actresses over the years, in various mediums. Who's ranks as your absolute favorite?

Vote and discuss!

Erica Durance.

It's weird, for a show that ardently refused to be a Superman show, Smallville handled the supporting cast the most deftly, at least at their high points.

Amy Adams, think she's the best version of Lou's Lane we've ever hard, she saves the day along with Superman in Man of Steel and was hugely integral to both MOS and BvS.

Erica Durance an extremely close second though, she looks just like the comics version of Lois Lane and acts like her. I'd then go with Teri Hatcher in 3rd place, she did a great job on Lou's & Clark and she even progressed the sane with John Byrne's version of Lois dud in the comics.

Margot Kidder was fine in the first two Superman films but I have never been in love with her. Kate Bosworth was a complete miscast and badly written.

Noel Neill and Phylis Coates Lois Lane portrayals were from a different era, perhaps one I can't quite relate to aswell but I will say they both did good jobs given the material they had.

Form the ones I've seen, Margot Kidder. Teri Hatcher was good, too.

Amy Adams, it isn't even close. Not just because she's the best actress out of all of them by a country mile (one of the best actresses ever not to win an Oscar).

The characterisation of Lois Lane, in Man of Steel was one of the best things about the movie, so Adams has to share some credit with the writers for this. In comparison the characterisation of Superman himself was hit and miss, but they managed to cook up a great version of Lois.

What clinches it for me is that Adams makes Lois a believable and actually likeable character - she's far from helpless, but not a hardened ass-kicker.
She's not manipulative or whiny like Margot Kidder, or a wet blanket like Kate Bosworth.

All in all Adams Lois combines the best aspects of Lois from the comics, with a strong performance.

Erica Durance takes second, Margot Kidder third, Teri Hatcher fourth and then downwards from there.

Durance for me, she was just perfect. Amy is a close second and would've probably been first if BvS didn't drop the ball so badly with lois.

Terri Hatcher
Erica Durance
I am not a huge fan of Margot Kidder but she did define the character for decades.

Definitely Erica Durance with Amy Adams coming in second. For me, Erica was just everything I ever wanted Lois Lane to be in live action. Imo, her portrayal is the best of them all.

It is hard to decide between the two I feel, both have been fantastic Lois Lane. I think along with Teri Hatcher these are the thee that truly nailed it.

I think I'm just a little biased towards Durance because of my inherent and immense love for Smallville. haha

But I certainly agree that all three brought their own flavor to the character & played it to their strengths.

Btw, the three women in question also seem to all have that vampire complex where they look more and more youthful as the years pass. Remarkable. :D

None.

That's probably because I haven't gotten the Superman I've wanted to see on screen to make me like the Lois character.

Hatcher would win by default though I haven't actually watched L/C since I was a kid and was just excited to see Superman at all.

Margot Kidder looked like a chain smoking truck driver to me. Lol

Adams was kind of the worst for me, but it isn't really her fault. She is not allowed to have that Lois spark that would make a Superman fall in love for her.

Teri Hatcher's Lois had spunk and Spark but hardly ever came off like a b---- like Margot Kidder.

Erica was just used on Smallville as T&A and I feel the showrunners didn't respect her or the character.

Amy has no chemistry with Henry and is too soft to play the roll. Just recently I started think Jessica Chastain would have been a much better choice. But even with a more suitable actress there would still need to be some writing changes for the character to give her more of a personality.

Do you feel this way about her entire run as Lois; or do you give 1978 a pass?

Amy Adams is the best, she had way more to do than any other Lois Lane in the movies. She plays the role phenomenally IMO.

Erica Durance is very close second and Hatcher third.

I think my answer would be Hatcher if I'd watched more of her show. As it stands right now, I'm gonna go with Durance. It would be Adams, because she's a great actress, but her character is about as bland as they come.

Oh, and I agree that Adams and Cavill have no chemistry.

How does Amy Adams even have a single vote?
Because she is a good actress.

Because there are people in the world who have different opinions than you do.

Because they liked her in the role.

Because your opinions are not the only ones allowed to be expressed here on the Hype.
