Favorite Suit Up Montage

1) Batman Forever (intro)
2) Batman Returns
3) Batman '89
4) Batman Mask of the Phantasm
5) Batman Forever (sonar suit, finale)
6) Batman and Robin (intro)
7) Batman and Robin (snow suits or whatever they were, finale)

It's a real toss-up between B89 and Returns. I think B89 just pips Returns, though I do love both scenes.

i wish the dark knight had had a montage.

Am I the only one who has always had a problem with B89 and BR suit-up montages? Batman just stops and poses for the photograph looking up. It looks ridiculous. At least with Batman Begins, you had those shots of the cowl and the chest emblem and they spoke for themselves, their inconography became much stronger. If after that a shot of a suited up Christian Bale showed up, it would have been totally ridiculous. Batman would never pose just for himself.

Anywho...

I'd rank 'em like this:

1. MOTP
2. BR
3. BF
4. BB
5. B89
6. DE
7. B&R

Batman Begins hands down.

The editing and sound effects are terrific. The *clicks* and quick cut to him flying down to the tumbler are great. The music that underscores it -the Batman theme - is exciting, preparing you for Batman going into battle.

QFT. Agreed. BB ftw.

B89 of course.

Yep. Perectly summed up Batman in those ten seconds.

And you know what really helped it? Probably one of the greatest Bruce Wayne/Batman quotes of all time.

"But he's out there right now. And I've have to go to work."

Perfect.

Completely forgot about that one. Nice :brucebat:

*"And I've gotta go to work." It's a bit picky and I would've left it ussually, but you made a deal about how much you love the quote, so..

I particularly like the Batman Returns suit-up. It's very similar to the Batman one, in that it occures way into the film, has the same theme and roughly the same costume, however its longer, more-drawn out, and it doesn't have that huge mask that makes Keaton look like he's wearing his Dad's clothes (its especially noticable in certain shots, like him looking up in the suit-up. You know I'm right.)

I also love the Begins suit-up. As already mentioned, I think the sequence is really suspenseful and brilliantly intrigrated into the film (while as previously mentioned, sometimes the suit-ups seem a little out of place in the other films.) The third act of Batman Begins is, along with the second act of Donner's Superman, the best superhero sequence in any comic-book film, and the suit-up begins that.

I don't care what this thread is all about. I'm just here to say that BATMAN BEGINS IS DA BEST MOVIE EV000HR AND EVERYONE WHO DOESN'T THINK THIS WAY IS A BURTON HATER AND JUST A PATHETIC KEVIN CONROY FANBOY!!1

@Topic
Mask of the phantasm. I'm really suprised that nobody put it on youtube.

Batman Begins - both scenes (particularly the second one)

And I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, but I've always liked the Batgirl suit-up in Batman & Robin.

Yep. It's a different type of awesome than the Burton films and MOTP.

They were operatic. Begins was naturalistic; it had a real sense of urgency. Like, "I don't have time to pose with my gear on, ****'s goin' down!"
Definetely. Perfectly describing the difference.

1) B89
2) BEGINS

You can have the rest, especially the Shumacher suit up scenes, in all their homoerotic glory.

i wish the dark knight had had a montage.
I think it was a tradition much needed to be broken. You did all you could do with it. B89 had the definitive iconography, and BEGINS had a scene in which it was natural and added to the tension of the events happening in Gotham.

TDK however had that awesome visual image of Bruce standing infront of the monsterous looking bat suit contemplating what he's inspired in Gotham.

I don't know if it's the best, but the one I can recall shot for shot is the opening scene in Batman Forever,so I'd say it's my favorite. From him suiting up, to collecting his various gadgets, to walking up the steps and seeing the Batmobile rise from the depths, to the full shot of Batman standing next to the Batmobile, all with that great theme playing in the background, I thought it was perfect. Right until the 'I'll get drive through' dialogue. Dohhhh!

"Suit me up, Uncle Alfred!" :hehe:

Oh god, that gave me a painful flashback(other than the shot of Alicia's arse :yay:). But seriously, all credibility went out the door(not like it had any to begin with). But what, was a suit waiting there for her? Did Uncle Al go into the back, go on a sewing machine, and hook up a costume in 10 minutes? She had no training, no nothing, and all of a sudden she's suitable to stand alongside Batman? I know we're talking about a man dressed as a bat, so throw plausibility out the window, but at least abide by the rules set in the world you've created.

The only part of that scene I don't like (aside from the drive-thru fail) is how Batman looks in the full body shot. Something about either the look on Kilmer's face or the way he's lit, he just looks kinda goofy. I don't know.

It's evened out later in the movie though; the shot of him emerging from the flames is still in the top 5 bad ass Batman shots ever.

Batman Forever/B&R tie.

Come on... where else will I get quick shots of rubber asses and close-ups of codpieces?

Batman Forever had the coolest Suit up in my opinion, The Intro.
I also liked the intro of B&R, Minus the butt shots. It was pretty cool in my opinion to see both Batman and Robin gear up.

That scene only lacked of shots of Batman and Robin zipping up the zippers in the back of each other's suits. Both smiling and looking back and all.
