The media is upset that she was so right about them but are trying to attack her from a different perspective, to try and avoid looking like they are doing that. But yes, they all have their Trump sources and have made a lot of money off him.

The WHCD has always been about an expression of our free press and speech. Wolf killed it and in the best possible way at a time when the POTUS is actively trying to pursue ways to promote "alternative facts" to the American people along with trying to pressure actual journalist from running negative stories about him.

Really, because it strikes me as a way for journalists to schmooze with those they are supposed to be covering.

I really don't pay attention to this event, so it was neither here nor there with me what happened.
I only saw a few minutes of Ms. Wolf's routine. Part of it was amusing, but my sense of humor only allows me to laugh at select stuff, so it wasn't personal, I wasn't offended myself. I'm sure her career will be fine. This "scandal" will blow over.

i wonder how many "progressive" celebrities are willing to say she "went too far"? Curious.

Look at any WHCD since it's inception and you'll see that all of the speakers roast those that were currently in the government and the POTUS. Then POTUS comes up and does the same.

There are hundreds of countries around the world that would have executed Wolf for 1/10th of what she said in her set. Trump not being there to participate speaks volumes, but at the end of the day she is allowed to say those things publicly with the only backlash being GOP snowflakes.

I read some of those questions. His lawyers better hog tie him down before they ever let him near them.

Can you take the 5th with such an interview with law enforcement/investigators? It's not a court of law setting or a congressional hearing so I don't know off the top of my head. I bring it up because... Well if he can I think he will and when that gets out... Damn, the headlines and public reaction would be brutal.

If Trump answers anything, Mueller will get him in a Perjury trap. You see old footage of him doing a deposition? He folds like a 1970's vinyl and aluminum lawn chair.

Come on, that's really exaggerating it. :cwink:
But there are a few.

There are only 195 counties in the world.

Yes, you can. You are under no legal obligation to answer an investigator’s questions (although in some states you are required to provide identification and basic biographical info if asked).

If Trump were to take the fifth, that'd be the most flagrantly guilty behavior he's exhibited yet.

But given his loose associations with the truth, it might be marginally preferable to trying to BS Mueller and get himself all tied up in knots.

Would be really bad optics though.

either option he takes, he's screwed.... he refuses to attend an interview, then he's a coward who's clearly hiding from his actions... he attends and lies, then Mueller has him by the short & curlies.... he attends and refuses to say anything, then see point one.

We need more public discourse like that, we've had way too much of politicians laughing off and ignoring uncomfortable things they don't want to be held accountable for. It needs to be thrown in their faces a little bit more often.

Pretty much the way it's been framed, yup.

And all because he can't shut his damn mouth.

Nah Trump would never take the fifth.

Some of this comments on the Fifth.

“The mob takes the Fifth,”
“If you're innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”
So clearly as an innocent man who has never associated with criminals he would never take the Fifth as it would make him a hypocrite. :o

New reports are saying that NYT list of questions was actually leaked by team Trump in an effort to discredit the investigation. One of Mueller's former assistants said the grammatical errors and phrasing of questions that would not be asked or in that way led him to that conclusion.

He says it seems more like someone that took notes/talking points and then made questions up out of it.

The plot thickens.

She also called out the various mainstream news networks for profiting off of him too, nobody was safe which was perfect. I'm a firm believer that this presidency and the win had a lot to do with an over-abundance of Trump related news on a daily basis (still ongoing). The average person just tunes it out and thinks this is all normal now because of constant bombardment for years now. That's just as dangerous as Trump's policies.

Of course it was his team. Mueller runs a tight ship.

Except with the underlings he appoints to run his investigation, it seems. Mueller himself is above reproach, but some of these toadies are seeming pretty sketchy themselves from the leaks.

********. Mueller has had some strategic leaks, sure. But most of the leaks we have gotten are from the people Mueller has interviewed.

My first instinct was that it was Mueller's team who leaked the questions. Trump is on the fence about talking to them, and I could see Mueller leaking the questions to add public pressure for Trump to interview with them.

I don't really see an upside to Trump's team leaking the questions. It's not like any of the questions were unprofessional. If anything, seeing the list just reminds us of all the questions that Trump still has to answer for. Still, it could have been him who leaked it. He does act pretty stupid sometimes... or maybe this is just the first part of a larger game of shenanigans he has planned.

Doesn't really matter. I want answers to these questions darn it!
