And Trump solidifies stealing money from veterans and crisis support teams....

Not sure if already covered but Trump used his first veto to uphold his emergency declaration. (from Bloomberg)

He's gonna be using that veto like a ****ing gift card now.

It only just barely lost in the Senate by a single vote. If one or two senators would just grow a spine....

No, a 60 vote would have been filibuster-proof. 67 is veto-proof.

I don't think 59-41 is barely losing. It passed because it is something special by the rules that is not subject to filibuster. We already knew it wasn't veto proof from the House vote.

And not shockingly, Trump doesn't fully understand the issue.

What the ****...

There is a reason why Ben Shapiro is trying to push that we shouldn't be talking about the shooter's manifesto. Trump is too stupid to see the connections to his speech and such terrorist acts. Which is why it is a concern with him starting to brag about "toughest supporters".

Right. I was being too optimistic over how many Republicans voted against it. Even if it was in their own self interest.

The only Republican who voted against Trump who is up for re-election in 2020 was Collins. Who is already in a dire situation, where having Trump against her could actually help. Gardner and Tillis would not survive the primary against Trump.

I thought I had read 12 had voted against it.

Too stupid, or covering his ass? The toughest supporter ****... it is insane how this rise in white supremacist just gets swept away, but then again it is being swept away by those who support it. Or at the very least benefit from it.

Back to my wish there were more Republicans with a spine then.
There are zero Republicans with a spine. And only like two Democrats. And one of them just spent the last month being racily attacked by her own party.

I don't remember the last time I was this disgusted by the Far Right. People like Candace Owens didn't even bother to offer condolences, just skipped straight to threatening to sue anyone who dare link their rhetoric to this terrorist. And of course none of them will ever suggest a single positive word towards the Muslim community. I even saw a large group of posters on Twitter literally gloating over the murder of 49 people because in their minds it proves "gun control doesn't work".

And then there's Trump. New Zealand's PM publicly requests he extend support to the Muslim community. And he just can't do it. And don't even get me started on how Muslim terrorists in London are "animals" but these white supremacists are "a few people with problems"....

CNBC - Trump says he does not see white nationalism rising after New Zealand mosque shooting

Whites are radicalized on the internet (and elsewhere) just like other terrorists.

I think of a certain line from Superman IV.

"Goodnight sweet price, parting is... inevitable."

The prince being America and parting it's total destruction. This keeps going on, it'll be over for us soon enough.

The sheer irony. All these people thought Obama was an enemy, the great destroyer of America. Talk about projection man...

When Obama failed to destroy the country they voted in someone who could.

That's basically what a lot of Americans want. They think the system is broken, and the only way to fix it is to burn it all down. Convention is bad. Precedent is bad. Government is bad. According to some, we have to destroy the village in order to save it. Folks are tired of incremental change.... which is basically how our nation has thrived and survived for 300 years.

People lose sight of just how good they actually have it compared to what it was and decide to tear it all down because surely there is something better. Only I have no idea what their idea of "better" is besides making it all white people who don't have to pay taxes or have a functioning society.
