Older white people just want the 1950s back where race wasn’t a problem for them and America didn’t have to compete against China and other countries.

I had an old lady at work once tell me "I want to go back to live in the '50s! That's when the good times were. Ever since it's just gotten worse and worse."

By pretty much every single metric folks are WAAAAAAY better off today than they were 60 years ago. But they are not as well of in comparison to certain folks than they were back then. That's an issue for far too many people.

People lose sight of just how good they actually have it compared to what it was and decide to tear it all down because surely there is something better. Only I have no idea what their idea of "better" is besides making it all white people who don't have to pay taxes or have a functioning society.

So many people of that mindset think they do everything themselves. They enjoy the benefits of society, then pretend they're completely self reliant. Who do they think paved the roads they drive on? Built their house? Grew, raised, and packaged the food they eat? Built, and manned the power plant giving them energy? Drinkable water, and sewage? The armies that protect us. The diplomacy that prevents wars. Healthcare. Modern technology.

It's easy to puff out your chest, and pretend you do everything yourself. It's another to actually do it. Like you say, they want "better", but don't know what better actually is. Things definitely need fixing. But burning everything down to restart from the ashes is just stupid. Sadly this self destructive desire of theirs can drag the rest of us down with them.

1) Why would we have blamed Obama?

2) The dude in New Zealand is not liberal.

3) Maybe it has something to do with Trump’s own rhetoric mirroring that of these kinds of shooters, and the shooter himself referring to Trump as “a symbol of renewed white identity”.

The comparison would work if Obama were a) a Muslim scion of hate, b) encouraging this kind of behavior with his rhetoric and c) a completely unhinged, unqualified narcissist who can't stay out of the media's attention for more than 5 minutes without throwing a tantrum keeping it in the news.

Unfortunately, there are plenty of (dumb) people who see something like that and think it's true... and then repeat that (mis)information to others, spreading the lie.

The shooter said he loves Trump, Candace Owens, and was flashing a white power sign today... so all of that obviously points to him being liberal (yet still some people try to argue that this guy is somehow a leftwing extremist)
