The "quid pro puo" obsession only started as an excuse for the GOP to say his crimes weren't "really" criminal.

Because Captain Bone Spurs is the very definition of a tough guy.

That's the gist of it, though. Trump IS there idea of a "tough guy" - a rich man who doesn't care about "silly" things like health or feelings or style and who never considers the consequences of his actions and never accepts any criticism.

He's a weak man's idea of a strong man, a poor man's idea of a rich man and a foolish man's idea of a smart man.

I think Bill Taylor arriving in Ukraine after reluctantly taking the job and his wife not approving of it only to uncover some kind of shady dealings going on is the stuff that could be the plot to a political thriller for a film. He could be the mild mannered hero and everyman who finds that everyone is in league with Trump.

David Strathairn has a similar look and serious businesslike demeanor. Plus, like when he played Edward R. Murrow in Good Night and Good Luck, he's a low-key character actor, not a "star", so he could accentuate Taylor's unassuming demeanor and keep the role about Taylor, not whoever is playing him.

Scott Glenn could look the part decent enough too, I guess, but I kind of feel like Strathairn would be a better choice.
