Yep, this is why, Dems need to stop trying to pivot to the center and try to appeal to moderate Republicans with traditional Neoconservative economic policies. The era of small government is over. Neoconservative economic policies are even being rejected the Republican Party itself, which is Trump won the 2016 primary and why Trumpism remains incredibly popular among Republicans, even if Trump himself is on the outs. The Republican white working class base is looking for leaders who will make big promises to change the status quo and improve their lives. It is why they bought into Trump's lies about bringing back coal or manufacturing with tariffs, etc. and other strongarm government tactics.
The fiscally conservative, socially liberal ideology of Biden, Pelosi and other Establishment Dems is a dead religion. If they don't move on from it and pivot to strong progressive economic policies that yield tangible rewards for the working class, they are going to be shut out of power again by 2024. The Liberal Party in Canada learned this over 5 years ago and it why Trudeau is able to hang onto power despite multiple cabinet, influence, and blackface scandals.
