I just watched the pilot. It wasn't as slow and boring as I'd heard. I'd read about the episode ahead of time so the tense scenes, like Nick in the church and Madison with the principal, didn't land for me, but there were still some really ominous touches, like the old man shambling around in the park, and the missing child signs.

The characters are kind of a mixed bag. I liked Travis, Madison, Tobias and, much to my surprise, Nick. Alicia is godawful in any scene involving her mom and stepdad. Did Chris also have to be a brat with a strained relationship with his father? At least one of the kids should've been decent. The twist they pulled with Calvin was kinda neat, I mean the way they set him up to be a nice guy and instead he was a drug dealer.

On the whole, I liked it a whole lot better than TWD's pilot, which really did bore the hell out of me.

Now that's an unpopular opinion. "Days Gone Bye" is considered one of TWD's best episodes among TWD fan community.

Love the show
I like the slow burn I was shocked when the national guard showed up
I thought they were just gonna shoot everyone

So I'm all caught up now. I'd heard the characters tended to act like idiots around the zombies and they do, though they don't come off as stupid as I'd anticipated. The only thing I can't figure out is why they feel they have to stand right next to the zombies to talk to them. Stand ten feet away and reason with them from there, you fools! It was also annoying that it took them as long as it did to tell Alicia about the virus. Why were they sheltering her? She was in a lot more trouble not knowing the truth. And why didn't Madison and Travis yank her away from her boyfriend when they caught her with him? She could've been infected with the zombie "flu".

The atmosphere of this show is intense, though. I loved the shot with the electricity going out neighborhood by neighborhood.

The barber is wonderful, especially in the scene where he took control when the neighbor attacked Travis. I can't imagine how awful El Salvador must have been that the collapse of civilization following a zombie invasion doesn't faze him in the slightest. :oldrazz: He, Tobias, and Nick are my favorite characters, because they're so far ahead of everyone else. Speaking of Tobias, I hope we see him again.

So in the next episode they're stuck in some kind of military camp? That could be interesting.

I thought every episode of season 1 of TWD was terrible except for the finale. I've never watched any other season of the show.

I didn't like the pilot for this show but each episode since has been better.

The whole "not telling the daughter" bothered me. Had she known then she wouldn't have kept ignoring her mother and looking out the window, running to the door. And then when she was alone in the neighbor's house looking for bullets... she was not prepared. If her brother hadn't gotten really sick, she would have run off to her bf's and probably gotten eaten. The writers tried to create tension by keeping her in the dark. The problem is that that kind of tension isn't tension but an annoyance. :whatever:

Liked the cliff hanger. Can't wait to see what happens with the military there

^It was a weird decision on the writers' part because keeping her in the dark didn't really accomplish much plot-wise. The only thing that would've changed is that she wouldn't've left Nick behind to go see her boyfriend (BTW, what a ***** move that was). After all that effort to keep the apocalypse a secret from her, she ended up learning that some virus was turning people into zombies later that evening anyway.

Same here... In the pilot everything was kind of boring, but not too much.. In other episodes is better and it keeps getting better :D

I've liked all the episodes so far. :)

Just a shame this first season is so short. :(

Well the whole moral quandary of killing the undead seems to have hit the dad even though he knows they are dead.
Its funny how moral people get about survival I mean even if there is a cure most of these zombies are just gonna die anyway if they come back from those injuries

Just noticed that the intro is like the video game! :wow: Better late than never.

Chris is so annoying. Does he have a point? Possibly but dang I'm hoping he gets bit fast!

Everything went to **** pretty fast.

Nick, you bad boy. Knew he was up to no good. :p

Oh, look ... Nick is being a little s***.

I hate this character. He's so annoying.

Well, Nick is now creepy and aweful.

Well at least Ofelia is having a good time :cwink:

I don't like this episode so far.

Blah blah blah, let's watch a boring married couple bicker, blah blah blah.

Eh, probably still need at least another week to get the proper zombie mass to take down that fence.

Really looking forward to these soldier becoming food.

Or if enough people die inside, like that old man who's not getting his pain meds. :(

I also think the actor of that military dude is awful.

He's one line away from saying "Maniacal laugh!" Subtlety ... What's that? :p

The neighbors are annoying. The guy who is having emotional problems. The wife is angry at Travis "what did you say to him"... :argh:

Seriously, another case of the military characters being cartoonishly bad guys. I have a friend who's already telling me that while, sure, there are some jerks he had when he was in the military, most of them would have been pushing to get help for the people there and to get back out there and find more survivors that needed them, especially if things were this bad.

It would just be nice for once to see people like that represented. Hopefully the ones in the show don't start becoming abusive and rapey already by the end of the episode.
