Feige talks Captain America!

I've finally scanned the article with Fiege from November issue of Empire (UK) on the Cap film.

(I've no idea what size it'll be as my scanner is going crazy on me so hopefully it comes out ok.)

I will kill myself if the studios pull another Wild Wild West and make Will Smith Cap.

I want some thing like these for the Red Skull,

And a version of Ult Cap with wings on the mask because I like the military style boots and gloves.......
and the mesh armor works better than the scale mail

I always thought that the creators of the Ulitmates took their costume design cues from the X-men films. They seem to have based their approach on 'what would these Marvel costumes really look like in the real world? With seams etc.' Compare the picuters of Wolverines and Jean Grey's costumes to that of Quicksilvers and Giant Mans (Hawkeye's too); there are definate similiarities.

Cap's costume is a bit different (ironically, Captain Iraq's is more similiar to the above, see below pic) but yeah, the images that WTFimVENOM posted look like the right approach.

I just hope they remember that Captain America's costume is red, white, & blue, and don't try to make it burgundy, white and blue. That would suck.

You mean like they did with Superman? Heh..

I'd love it if they used a bright red, and navy blue..

I like the idea of Speilberg directing Captain America. I agree with everyone else this film has to start in WW2 but end up in present day.

I had an idea that when Cap awakes in present sometype of terroirst attack happens on or near American soil and Cap gets called into action.

I think Jason Lewis would make a great Captain America

That's exactly what they need to avoid.

I'm not too concerned about the blue (yet) but they have to make the red RED

What about the wings on the face mask?

I think they should use the Ultimate universe costume.

Don't stuff around Feige!!

Let's have Cap sooner than a couple of years

Keep the wings. I don't like the Ultimate costume, especially the helmet-type thing used in Vol. 2.

A lot of people like the idea of a film set entirely in World War II, but there's no way that would be considered commercially viable, and Captain America's defining character trait in the comics is his status as a legend from the past living in the future (Avengers #4 took two pages establishing who he was, and I doubt any of the kids reading Avengers #4 in the early 60s had ever read his 40s comics, so there's no need to spend a whole movie in WWII). Of course, you should devote some time to his origin (a flashback structure similar to what Ed Brubaker wrote in "The Winter Soldier" arc might be better than strictly linear storytelling).

Jason Lewis looks awesome for Steve Rogers. Who is this guy?
Is he big enough?
Can he act?

the movie could/should be 120mins (2 Hours) with the first (Act) 40mins breaking down like this; Setting up the time frame its the 1940's that could be about 5 mins, 15 mins on Steve Rogers his girlfriend Gail and him getting into the Project Rebirth. The 20 mins on the 6 moths of training for Steve to become Captain America, as well as showing the rise of the Red Skull. The first 40mins would end with cap getting his costume and shield and heading off to war.
The Second (Act) 35mins would break down like this; 10 mins on Caps first mission and him meeting Bucky (he would be more like Brubakers bucky), and Bucky being assined Caps partners (Propaganda for the kids back home), 5 mins on Caps first meeting the Red Skull and Cap/Bucky trailing the Red Skulls and trying to stop his plans, and the last 20 mins would be caps mission to a Nazi stronghold on the coast of Iceland to stop a prototype hydrogen bomb from being launched. Cap falls into a state of suspended animation and Bucky is killed.
The Third (Act) 45mins would break down like this; the first 5 mins would be a deep sea exploration team finds the body of cap in a block of ice. 20 mins on cap being brought up to speed on all the time that he has been gone, being reintoduced to the world and showing the Red Skull now possing as George Maxon, an American businessman and leader of AIM and his plans. and the last 20 mins Cap is called on to stop the Red Skull with a battle on the top of mount rushmore to stop the Red Skulls new plague.

He is big enough, as far as acting I have no idea he was on Sex and the City for a few seasons, but that really doesn't say much. I just read his bio and he was a runway model before turning actor, he has made a bunch of appearences on a bunch of shows. He was also in the movie The Jacket, and The Man Who Knew Too Little

I agree with some around here, there's no guy better for the job than Aaron Eckhart... looks the part and he's a great actor.

His acting isn't bad, but y'know, nothing special either. I'd say in the same range as Orlando Bloom, or possible I dare say, Keanu Reeves.

I think Jason Lewis is a great choice for Cap. He has the look and he can act. I'm not saying he's DeNiro or Brando, but he can pull Cap off.

I saw him in a tv movie and he had a southern gentleman type of character. As Muze alluded to, Lewis displayed in that piece an 'aw shucks' look and charm that makes him credible as a man from a simpler time.

I also agree with Muze that Eckhart would be a better Pym, but I don't think he'd go for it, honestly.

If they cast Jason Lewis as Cap I'll give him a chance.

Stupid question - which villain would you rather see, Red Skull or Herr Kleiser?

I'm all about the 616, so it's the Red Skull for me. If not him, then Baron Zemo.
