How much potential do you believe Captain America has?

He could have been analogous to the A-bomb ... if it was more than one of him. He's very powerful, but not wipe out entire cities powerful. He can handle himself in dangerous missions where other men might be killed or captured but he's still one dude.

Also, since he's gonna be resurrected in the present. Would he have the same effect on a modern world? Would everyone see him, be inspired. Would the enemies be afraid in their hovels fearing not only the American living machine but those of their own kind who would turn on them and do right by his example.

Do you mean he could be a symbol for extreme nationalism? That's what we're arguing against right now.

what you say he stands for is still being pushed upon people who are happy with the way their lives are right now. Why does every place have to be another america? I'm not talking about violent places, or places that cower under a dictatorship that causes suffering and repression. What I am asking is why this young upstart country feels like it has to impose itself upon other countries that have existed far longer? Its much like the Catholic Church.
This american dream you speak of is a fine thing for you, but its much like your second amendment. Old fashioned and in need of a revision.

Look I`m british and i like cap. He stands for the good side of america,. the human compassionate side. Everyone likes to have a dig at america but just like most countries it has its god points and its bad points. You are deluded if you believe america is an evil nation of beligerent violence and that every american is a facist war hungery savage. America does bad things. America does some real stupid things. But america does get it right sometimes.

To a foreigners like myself Captain america represents What america could do for humanity if it used all its power and influence as a force for good. That is why cap is popular overseas because in the face of all the crappy things america says and does in the ned america has the clout in this world and the rest of the world is hoping one day america will live up to its own ideals. That is what cap represents. The whole world`s ideal american.

Well I could see some parallels there, in essence everything is propaganda to some point, movies aren't just entertainment, they might tell us the ideals to strive for, what to avoid, who's in charge, what to eat, how to act... It's a very powerful medium.

NO! Its based off Miller's Graphic Novel that was written before the war. Any parallels are coincidence. The whole 300 thing was just plain ridiculous.

Also, to solve the problem of it not doing well over-sees, just make the whole damn movie take place in WWII. I think everyone can stand an American hero in WWII. cept maybe some skin-heads.
