Loved the ep, I thought the way they incorporated the real comic book characters into the costume design was great, as well as parallelling the cop and reporter with classic comic book hero archetypes that also linked to Castle and Beckett. The whole thing was just great fun, plus there were a couple of good exchanges between Rick and Alexis.

The only thing is I think the ep deserved a more exciting ending.

Also, the tie-in to the Castle graphic novel was FREAKING. BRILLIANT. It worked so well in the context of the show. Very clever product placement there.

Agreed, it was nicely done, and oddly enough I ordered the book a couple of months ago and got an e mail the other day from Amazon saying it had been delayed, only to get another one a day alter telling me they had shipped my copy.

Has anyone ever bought or read any of the Nikki Heat novels? I only have the first one, Heat Wave. It's basically an episode of Castle with the names changed.

Wait, so according to the universe of Castle, has someone else been commissioned to write/ draw this graphic novel based on the Derrick Storm books, or is it supposed to be Castle himself who has a hand in its creation? It has Bendis etc credited at the bottom. However, on the Heat Wave book, it doesn't actually have the real author's name on it at all. It's packaged as if Richard Castle himself wrote it, and it has a fictional biography of Castle and acknowledgements that mention Kate Beckett et al.

Also, in the version we saw in the episode, did it have "Castle" and "ABC" at the top? Was it identical to this or a modified version?

It seems to be missing the ABC logo:

Otherwise the list of names seems to be the same. Then again, Richard Castle's name is quite prominent up front. It could just be the list of names that "adopted" Castle's penned story into graphic novel format.

Thanks. It's not just missing the ABC logo but the Castle logo at the top. It also doesn't seem to have the Marvel logo unless it's that thing in the top right hand corner. Did they get several variant copies without the logo printed out just for the show?

Oh yeah. Big mental fart on my part there, missing the Castle logo.

It makes sense, since that logo is for the show, and as far as I know, not used in the universe. And yeah, that's a Marvel logo on the top right. It matches the big one on the stand itself. Makes sense, since Marvel exists in that universe, hence Castle and Beckett's comic collections.

I wonder if that comic collection on the homicide board was Fillion's own comic collection? He seems like he could have Avengers #1.

Also, how many women do we know like Kate Beckett who grew up reading comics and have a professional job like hers? She seemed surprised that he had Avengers #1. Most women I know wouldn't even be that familiar with the comic and would think that these are rather juvenille. Beckett doesn't seem to share that view. She's not exactly a geek either.

I haven't checked recently, but I think when I first got the book, I might've noticed the absence of the ABC logo in the episodes. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be there either.

Fun episode this week dealing with an interesting topic as well as the stuff with Alexis having to accept not being perfect for once. I guessed it was the wife when she went on the rant over the missing head, and it was great seeing the *****ebag reporter from Die Hard.

Castle and Beckett's banter when they were walking through the college girls gone crazy set was gold.
