Firefly's Fillion Moves into Castle

Espo's attitude made no sense to me, he IMMEDIATELY turned on Castle lol

If Espo behaved out of character maybe he's not the real Espo. Imagine if that's true...

What if... the look-alike that got murdered in "Disciple" last season was actually the real Esposito!

Okay, no, they wouldn't pull that. Would be quite the twist though :woot:

But the fake Espo wouldn't know how to act. That was some time back. He wouldn't be able to keep up the charade that long, and Espo has acted in character enough all this time.

Oh this intrigue around Castle's disappearance is good stuff! I also liked the case which was a neat riff on the Sherlock Holmes story 'The Man with the Twisted Lip'.

So Castle asked to have his memory erased. What did he do that was so bad before? And why would he feel that it's so much worse than what he or the detectives have seen before in their cases?

Does that mean that he was actually camping out in that tent near the ocean voluntarily and not that he was just set up to look that way, even though he says he would never pitch a tent there? And does that mean that he was behind making the car looking like it crashed on the way to the wedding and not that he was ran off the road? Or maybe he put the money in that dumpster of his own accord?

He killed someone. I have no doubt that he killed someone while 'away' and couldn't live with himself for it as he had a choice not to do it, but he did it anyway (probably to save someone's life, but he still CHOSE to kill someone, hence the self hate and begging to wipe his memory).

But Beckett has killed people before in the line of duty, and so have Espo and Ryan. The thing is that, knowing that Castle is a mystery writer and cannot resist a good mystery, he would've been fooling himself into thinking that he could simply wipe his memory and then not want to investigate why on earth he would do that afterwards.

This sounds like that Ben Affleck movie "Paycheck" (based on the short story by Phillip K Dick) where he had his own memory wiped but then began investigating as to why he would do such a thing and finding clues along the way that he himself left.

While watching this I couldn't help think about that ST: TNG where Data is acting all strange and the crew realizes that they were all asleep for one day. Later it's revealed that Capt Picard agreed to have everyone's memory wiped to save the crew. It was all
of the clues which, by human nature, led to everyone trying to solve the mystery.

I can't imagine Castle would want his memory wiped but still leave all of these clues for him to solve.

Yes, it's also like that ST:TNG episode. Their curiosity also got the better of them in that story too and led them back to the xenophobic aliens they were trying to forget in the first place.

And I don't think that in ST:TNG they really thought too much about the clues they'd leave. They did try to leave fewer clues the second time round that they had their memories wiped. With Castle, he probably didn't think about it enough, which is of course what the story writers want, so that he does pick up on clues that he inadvertently left.

That's where I don't buy it coming from Castle. Castle stated that he'd never camp that close to the shore. So it's odd that he'd camp out there. He wouldn't have sewn a key in his pants had he not wanted to know the truth. I'm thinking the guy holding the gun was lying to Castle about who wanted his mind wipe. I just haven't figured out why that guy would know Castle's true story especially if it was too personal to share w/ Beckett.

The question still remains is why was he whisked away into a situation that would require him to kill someone right as he was about to get married, and what does it have to do with some secret from when he was 11 years old? I still think he's being played and 3XK is behind it all.

The secret was only mentioned as Castle used it to make him realise, post mind-wipe, that he had agreed to it. I didn't get any link to what happened being why he was taken.

Castle didn't choose to go, the fact they had to drag him from the car points to him being unconscious... The question is, didHe stay because he wanted to or did he stay because he was forced to?

I always got the impression that Castle was involved with stuff when he knew the CIA woman in that 2 parter (I so ****ing hate how bad I am at remembering names)... Maybe he was used by her to do something work wise and he's needed for whatever knowledge he picked up there?

Ah, that is where I made the mistake, I didn't realize the 11 year old thing was just a trigger, yet it didn't seem to work as Castle still didn't remember or believe that he had asked to have his mind wiped, but it does seem to open up a number of interesting possibilities.

It was a lot of fun, nicely done resolve as well...
