this has probably been discussed before, but Ive just started reading 'Deadly Genesis' again, after some years, and Ive noticed some similarities that have made me think that Singer was inspired by that miniseries.

Some of them:

- a real first team that nobody knew
- the character of Darwin (I think he will be introduced in the #2)
- Havok, as a substitute of the unknown Scott's brother (although Havok appears on Deadly Genesis too)
- Moira, as part of Xavier's past (with possible revealing information about him...)
- Banshee, as another character from his past...

there could be more, but Im still on #2...

What do you think?...
interesting, right?...

really interesting... :woot:

Yes, I'm sure it's been discussed before. I agree there appear to be elements of Deadly Genesis in the film, and it's nice that the comics were a source for some parts of the story. I don't mind that it's not a literal translation because that would be too predictable.

yeah, I dont want it to be the movie version of Deadly G. but some scenes or elements from it would be nice.

I want the movie to be a new story, something that keeps us in constant intrigue during the whole movie, with some surprising twists.

But Deadly Genesis (Vulcan, Darwin Petra etc) doesnt take place in 60's when Xavier was young
but during classic x-team's adventure!
This movie will really s****ck.

It was just a thought, not a rumour.

as I said, Ive found some coincidences, specially a new x-men team unknown to date. In this case:

Beast (who appeared on Deadly Genesis)
Darwin (big coincidence)
Havoc (another character from Deadly Genesis too)
Angel
and supposedly Mystique too.

Then, Moira; in DG as part of Xavier's past, and part of the creation of that new team.

- Jekyl Island on First Class - Krakoa on DG...

you cant deny there are some interesting similarities.

Isnt that just part of 20th Centry Fox's process for making an x-men movie? When Brian Singer left the project, X-Men 3 was designed to feature stores from the past and more recent history of the comic book world, which is why you had the cure story and phoenix giving you a wide span of the Marvel universe.

In order to keep the story fresh and to appeal to new readers of the comics and old, wouldnt the story of deadly genesis which is more recent and more relevant to new comic book readers to feature in the movie as well as featuring some classic stories from older comic book like when the X-Men faced the hellfire club.

Im sure Bryan was inspired by this series.

He surely knows it, at the very least.

But, still, there are elements of it - an earlier team of mutants who include Darwin does suggest a nod towards Deadly Genesis.

I don't think this film based entirely off of Deadly Genesis, but it may have elements.

Krakoa island = jekyll island and the climax of the film, but I doubt it'll be a living island

Deaths of certaint characters in the comics and possibly in the film

I agree, there seem to be quite a few Deadly Genesis elements...which im okay with, i seem to be the 1 person who actually liked the story...maybe we'll eventually see Vulcan somewhere down the road (i think he'd be doable without the Shi'ar)

Lol

it was a good miniseries, I think
