Flashpoint - DC Animated.

I really liked this. I enjoyed it even more than when I read the comic version

I had no idea that was Kevin McKidd voicing Batman until the end credits.

This film is definitely in my top 5 DCAU movies! It has great opening sequence with the JL that we all know and love and gives us a wonderfully darker world with these characters. Plus it's one the few movies ( either animated or live action) that I can rewatch multiple times! Plus I can just imagine this movie in live action:)

Funnily enough I just started reading the graphic novel (main story) and so far I love it. I think the films one of the reasons I'm enjoying the book so much.

Agreed.

one of the few films in the DCAU that caters a whole lot more toward adults. good dose of violence. Batman of the Flashpoint universe was such a bastard - i mean that in a good way ;)

This had me thinking are these animated films on to something here? Using the JL name to promote what is basically a Flash animated movie is brilliant. It makes me think it would be a great way to promote these so called lesser characters in live action. Flashpoint would work very well as a 2nd or 3rd film in a JL franchise. Infact it would be great if you did this as the finale of a trilogy with the ending leading to a reboot of sorts with a new cast for the new film series.

I saw it on Saturday. It was okay, but there were a lot of things that didn't make sense.

Great idea!

I just watched it, and after getting only 10 minutes into Superman: Unbound, I did not have high expectations. However, I ended up really, really enjoying it. More than anything, it's a film with consequence and heft, where I felt the impact and cost of death. Barry Allen was the most interesting I've ever found him (I've always been a Wally West guy) and all the characters were filled with purpose. Overall, the top 5 DC Animated films are:

1. Batman: Under the Red Hood
2. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox
3. Wonder Woman
4. All-Star Superman
5. Green Lantern: First Flight

I loved it. I will probably watch it again soon since my direct tv is on the fritz and won't be fixed until next Friday.

I liked Flashpoint a lot.

I hope we still get a Flash solo feature sometime though.

Unfortunately it won't happen at least anytime soon. Still using the JL name is a great way to push the so called lesser heroes to the forefront. Its probably exactly what will happen with Aquaman too.

Just finished the graphic novel (main story), absolutely loved it. Thought it the film was every bit as good as the book and vice versa.

Finally saw it last night. I'm not familiar w/ the comic version but this adaptation was awesome. I loved every second. Only things that I didn't get or didn't quite make sense to me was how Martha Wayne got hit w/ the Joker toxin and how the Reverse Flash would even have knowledge of the alternate (real) world if Barry couldn't remember what he did???

Martha Wayne didn't get hit by the toxin as far as I know. Her Joker went the TDK route by carving a smile into her face and wearing face paint.

Then again I haven't read the comic so don't quote me on that.

Not sure what you mean. In the flashback of young Bruce Wayne being shot. Thomas Wayne looks back and sees his wife crying over their son's lifeless body. She then starts laughing hysterically and a Joker Grin appears on her face.

That was Bruce Wayne's blood smeared over her face, resembling a smile.

In the Flashpoint universe, Martha Wayne snaps at that moment and becomes The Joker. The movie only had time to allude to the storyline.

I actually preferred the subtlety of it in the movie to be honest. I really like the fact that even though the world has changed the Batman always has a Joker, it's got a great sense of inevitability about it that no matter what happens certain things don't change.

Thanks for this explanation. The scene was just too strange to me. Now it makes more sense.

See myself I thought it was quite clear and at that time I hadn't read any of the source materia. But others have said the same as yourself so maybe it does help if you've read the source material.

I really liked this film. Particularly the final act but is anyone sad that these stories are not done in an animated series? Self contained one offs just don't do the them justice. Although I didn't read the Flashpoint crossovers I'm aware of some of the stories.

Wouldn't it have been great to have a 6 episode arc of Justice League exploring this? Can you imagine if they'd made the Death & Return of Superman as an entire series of JLU? It would have been epic. Superman/Doomsday was pathetic.

I haven't seen it yet but from what I hear there's no way they could have done the violence dark themed impact of this movie on JLU, the network wouldn't have touched it, or would have forced them to completely water it down.
I think one of the reasons Timm and co. launched the Direct to DVD brand, was to get around the network sensors and restrictions to tell the type of stories they actually wanted to tell.

I've just watched this for the second time and having read the source material now I can say I enjoyed it even more the second time. It's definitely in my top 5 DC Animated films of all time.
