Rogue One Forest Whitaker is Saw Gerrera in Rogue One

Is it weird that this is where the first reveal of his full costume comes from?

The worst character in the entire film, and this film already has too many bland characters. I don't know if they tried to play him for laughs or not in some parts, but whatever they tried doing with him, it failed. Forest's acting was at a career low.

So I guess they reshot all those scenes where he looks like that. And gave him a Don King type of haircut.

Had they kept him alive to have an actual arc, it would have been better, but to introduce such a wild and intriguing (for better or worse) character only to die a senseless death five minutes later was such a waste.

I really liked the implications of a character like him existing; he showed that being a rebel doesn't automatically make you a good guy, and that even the good guys could be splintered by having "Osamas" in their midst. It's a fresh and heavy concept for SW, but was ultimately useless with what they did with the character.

I think this design for Saw Gerrera proves his scenes were reshot for the present timeline. According to Lucasfilm, this episode is set just prior to the events to the time period of Rogue One.

Yeah other than being called back for reshoots with the new hair, Forrest must have done this film in 20 min. There's a shot of him opening the escape hatch, and another one of him saying he's done running and screaming that crap about save the rebellion.

I'm not sure what kind of accent he was trying to do in this film? Alien! Ha-ha-ha!

Honestly Gerrera's character was probably the most pointless. Hence why he had fairly limited screentime.

I think they just had him there to act as the sorta wise older. He didn't have anything to do with the actual battle itself.

I think that Saw was not used to his full potential. I think I would have liked to have mor of his own backstory explored. How militant was he as compared to Mon Mothma and the others? I would have liked more of the debate about "rules" and dividing lines within the Alliance and Saw should have been pivotal for that.

That said I think Whitaker's part was likely the most compromised by the reshoots and I can understand why.
