It was a throwaway gag. It wasn't as shoehorned in as something like Chewbacca and Yoda knowing each other in Revenge of the Sith.

I didn't expect that sequence I was so happy it was their [blackout]Vader did what I've so desperately wanted in episode III[/blackout]. OMG I have a new love for A New Hope!

It also kind of expands on why Vader and Tarkin were always so buddy buddy.

"Rogue One" does a great job of expanding on some of the back story in "Star Wars". Jyn and her family are almost foils to the Skywalkers. The Skywalkers get the attention and glory, while Jyn and her family, along with the rest of the Rogue One crew, are unsung legends.

That makes sense, as there are probably thousands of guys from wars over centuries old who laid groundwork that we never even heard of. But the history books only mention the popular ones.

    Quaded. :up::up::up::up:

I'll never watch A New Hope again without thinking about Jey, Cassion, K2 and all the others who sacrificed themselves, literally thousands, in order to get the Death Star plans to Yavin.

Before this, it was as generic as Leia's corvette simply intercepting a radio signal in space. Now it's pain and blood and death. Can't take that back. Don't want to give that back!

Basically a woman and other minorities saved the galaxy, but the white guy gets all the credit.

And you're ignoring the sacrifices of a white guy in that same group. Pot, meet kettle.

The Rebels don't fight their cause for medals and for glory.

Watching it the second time, and realizing that...

...Galen played along and built the weapon that wound up killing his own daughter.

That last bit of anakin/vader was awesome but i feel like it now contradicts a new hope in a way. Leia ship made escape infront of vader and everyone knows, even leia knows that everyone knows, she iss carrying the plans. So that talk between her and vader aboard the ship about being on a diplomatic mission to try and mislead vader does not make sense now.

Lets see how this movie ages. Force awakens has not done well in that regard in my humble opinion.

Lots of fan servicing, some unnecessary like that r2 and c3po part. But seeing tarkin again was nice.

    One little nickpick:

About [blackout]C3PO & R2D2 in EP IV aboard Tantive IV but still at Scarif after Raddus left Yavin 4[/blackout] in RO.

I don't think so. Leia is just being defiant and not going to admit she has the plans.

I agree on TFA though. It's on tv a lot now and I find it sluggish in parts. I'd rather watch ANH again.

I really enjoyed this, feel like it makes me enjoy A New Hope even more. Can't wait to see it again.

Vader entering the corridor on the Tantive IV will never be the same knowing what happened in the last corridor. That scene was perfection, as "Stand-and-fight!" turned to "No, you take it!"

She was playing dumb and could care less how ridiculous it may sound to Vader.

ANH still looks better than a lot of CGI heavy films of the 2000's, and 2010's.

I think it's pretty silly to complain about older effects not being all that great. Back in the day, people actually put a lot of effort into creating fairly practical effects. Of course not everything's gonna hope up wonderfully.

I quite liked the way they tied up Rogue One and A New Hope. Other then the ending, the references to the original didn't feel forced in anyway.

I watched the de-specialized edition of ANH this weekend, and I think the movie still looks awesome. I prefer the 1977 effects over the "special" edition, which in my opinion looks silly in each of the CGI scenes.
