I thought dewey cox was meh. There were some funny moments here and there but I didn't laugh as much like Knocked Up, Superbad, 40 Year Old Virgin, Ricky Bobby, or Anchorman.

It made a little over 17 million and came in second place while the FK made a little over 21 million.

It seems no one wants to see rated r movies anymore.

I hope Pineapple Express gets Knocked Up or Superbad numbers at the box office. It seems like it could do better being an action/stoner movie.

I doubt it since no one wants to see Rated R movies anymore really. they just wanna see those crap spoof movies.

What are you talking about? "Superbad" was #1 at the box office for two weeks in a row.

yeah that was all the way back in August of last year. and it's April now. so you do the math on how many months its been.

Superhero movie wasn't #1 at the box office, though right? I think if people see a good R rated comedy, they'll come around. Knocked Up and Superbad were #1 when they came out. It's been a year, but that's not that long. I think the timing of the release has a lot to do with success. We'll see again with Harold and Kumar 2 next week, whether people still enjoy R rated comedies. I think they do.

FSM was a good R rated movie. Harold and Kumar 2 isn't gonna be number one cause the Pg-13 baby mama comes out the same day also. and its a knocked up rip off from the same company. tons of chicks will flock to see it.

oh yeah, forgot about baby mama. Also the movie deception comes out next week too. Looks like it there will be some good competition.

No one really even knows about that movie. I didn't even know notging about it til i saw a tv spot past weekend plus its Rated R. So right there its chances fall almost.

I wonder what comingsoon.net will predict for the box office next week. I'd like Harold and Kumar 2 to be #1 but now I'm thinking it may be "Baby Mama".

So would I. But you know movie audiences now. I'm betting the same numbers as this week. BM making about 20 million and HAK2 15 million or so.

It's been months. I could understand your point that "nobody wants to see Rated R movies anymore really," if this trend had been going on for a year or two. Superbad did amazing at the box office, especially for being a Rated R comedy. Forgetting Sarah Marshall debuted at #2 for several reasons. Number one was because it went up against an action movie. Two, it starred Jackie Chan AND Jet Li, which was what people have all been waiting for. Third, is because FSM just didn't seem more interesting than FK.

And Baby Mama will not be #1 next week. Not only is it facing against a sequel, but the marketing for that movie has been bad.

thats a tough list to follow behind...
dewey cox felt empty...my hopes were high for the film...but it failed for me...
i cannot wait to see sarah marshall!

or see it online when someone posts a copy of it. lol

Yes but the general public is stupid sorry for saying that but its true.

Anyone that makes Step Up and its Sequel Number 1 at the box office can also make this number one. You should know by now.

FSM had a huge promotional complain but since it was rated r it had a limted audience that could get in oppossed to the PG-13 FK while had almost anyone allowed in.

Yhe last funny R Rated comedy besides FSM this year is Semi-Pro. Other then that not very much.

Wasn't there male nudity in Dewey Cox? And of course there's some in FSM. Maybe there are a lotta guys out there who aren't comfortable enough to see a penis on the big screen.
