What is ShoWest?
ShoWest is the largest annual convention for the motion picture industry. As the only international gathering devoted exclusively to the movie business, it attracts as a matter of course the most powerful people in filmmaking: the stars, directors, producers, and studio executives responsible for creating the most successful motion pictures in the world. It is also the single largest international gathering of motion picture professionals and theatre owners in the world, with delegates from more than 50 different countries in attendance each year.

You know they could show the Trailer there. I believe they showed a "Fantastic Four" Trailer there & that ended up as an Online Exclusive

I'm not bad-mouthing Ratner or the studio. I think they just need time. The process to getting X3 to film was not very easy, and Ratner signed on very late in the game. It feels like Fox is mostly having more say-so in visual promotions, right now where-as Singer sort of just went out cut a teaser together early and the studio approved it.

Fox has a set plan in how they want to promote this film, and while the fans aren't getting the things they want (images), in the larger scope of the general media, the promotion will be nothing short of amazing, and will be just fine...Fox knows what they're doing. In terms of pleasing the fans early on, it seems that they may have forgotten that, but in the greater scope of things, they're going to rock everyone's socks off. ;) :D

EXACTLY RIGHT! Fox knows what they're doing. They took a relatively unknown quartet of heroes with FF and made their movie critic proof. FF made big money. X2 was a monster hit and it's easy to ride that wave in to number three. Let Superman blow his wad, so to speak. Once the X3 buzz starts, nothing will derail it.

Remember the Hulk Superbowl disaster? They rushed images of the Hulk to the public and Hulkster never really recovered. There's no need to rush anything here. Unlike most fanboys, I can wait for my buzz.

f it was up to you, how would you go about marketing the movie to reach a wider audience. Like I said in my 1st post, I think a lot of emphasis should be put on the destruction of the Golden Gate Bridge to pique people's curiosity. Repeatedly showing the image of the White House getting destroyed certainly helped build the anticipation for Independence Day, and this sequence involving the bridge looks waaaaaayyyyy better. I can only imagine how the end result will look. What do you think? Any insight into what Fox marketing has in mind? Thanks

Simon Kinberg- *Zak and I have been fairly involved with Tony Sella and the marketing department at Fox. Tony is incredibly respectful of the X-Men universe, and he truly loves this film. I think future trailers and posters will emphasize the dramatic nature of the movie, taking the story and characters very seriously. Of course, the marketing materials will continue to feature big blockbuster sequences and visual effects, but I think you’ll see more and more of the emotion at the core of our story. I hope these elements will widen the audience, so our folks (and maybe even grandfolks) get interested in the film. There’s plenty of action and effects in X3, but the film is fundamentally about human issues and emotions, so hopefully that will resonate with the broadest possible audience.
