Ok so here's the deal and it sounds completely crazy. But for the last week ive been anticipating The Dark Knight, and theres nothing more fun to me then seeing a movie with your friends. Since my friends here in Ohio were being *****ey, i asked my best friend zack if he would wait to see TDK with me on sunday, the day i fly back to LA. He said yes, as long as I promised not to see it here in ohio. and all was fine till today.

See my grandpa's wedding is saturday so my family has been flying into town. My aunt called me and was like.. "will you go see TDK with Lucie (my cousin) and Carol's (my grandpa's up and coming wife) grandchildren at the midnight showing tonight. She essentially wouldnt let me talk, and i told her i'd call her back later with an answer. Well she just called me and was like "i just bought your ticket" and essentially hung up right after... i'm so incredibly mad at what she's doing with me right now.. completely guilt tripping me, and forcing my friend to get mad at me, and not only that but completely ruin the most anticipated movie this summer to me cuz ill be in a bad mood, not with friends, people who i can't talk about the events of the movie with like i can a comic fan, and i really dont know what to do.

do i suck it up and keep my aunt happy and make myself miserable and my friend mad at me...

or do i find a way to get out of it?

this whole situation is ridiculous.

First off, family comes first. Secondly, Zack will find a way to sneak into the theater, haven't you ever watched Saved By The Bell? After the movie, it might be a different story.

Family does come first but who wants to see a movie with kids from the other side??? Go see it twice and buck up.

well family normally comes first.. but my cousin is 18, she should be asking me not her mom. It's like im being "used" for my aunts convienence.. and i dont even know carols grandchildren... and she for one knows i dont want to see it tonight (she asked me a week ago), and my aunt is just being really coniving about it and its really ticking me off. You only get one first time movie experience... and im totally going to be in a bad mood all night which will ruin the movie for me. i should just swallow like 50 sleeping pills or something..... so i can be in a coma during the movie.

to ME personally, Family is usually who you consider family....

I consider my best friends my family... way more family then any uncles, cousins and **** like that... so to me personally, a best friend > second rate family

It all depends on who you have a greater personal bond with....

that being said, if i was you id try my best to get across you already had plans you cant break.. good luck !!! lol

In some cases family may come first. But when it comes to plans that have already been made, family can piss off. The same holds true to anyone and anything that tries to change my plans at the last minute.

If you wanted me to do something with you or cover for someone, you should have said so before

Take them to the theater, but see a different movie than them.

Seriously, just go see the movie twice and enjoy it with all the fanboy enthusiasm you have in you...both times! Hey, you got a free ticket out of it. Go see it. Enjoy the hell out of it. And maybe not tell your friend in L.A. that you've already seen it and then go see it again with him. By all accounts this film is supposed to be amazing, so it will probably be just as incredible to see the second time. I think you're letting yourself get worked up about something that really isn't worth the personal angst, really. Just my opinion.

Way to be determined to have a bad time, no matter what. I'm sure your expectations will be met.

yeah that sucks that you'll have to see batman twice. 'specially once for free. my heart goes out to you. :csad::oldrazz:

See it with the family then lie about not having seen it. Feel guilty inside while your friend is ignorant of what really happened and happy.

How close are you with these family members?

i'd enjoy seeing it twice but if i was only seeing it once it would not be a midnight screening . midnight screenings are alot of fun im sure but dont find it necessary to do that . you should tell yuor family , "im not comfortable seeing a film that late" they should understand . especially if you are driving .

I love posters who actively seek out advice here and whatever the predominately popular advice given is, they still do what they want which is usually contradictory to the advice given. :down

If you are determined to have a bad time, no matter what, you probably will. Self-fulfilling prophecy.

jag

I think he's just being overdramatic.
