From THE CHAMPIONS to THE ORDER

I wouldn't recommend it to you. I said it was a superhero book, but that's a loose desription. It's more along the lines of a Victorian Gothic, psuedo-superhero, comedy, adventure book. So, it's probably not your cup of tea.

I stand by my above statement. The 31st is a slow week, and I heard good things about it before you. If I can find it in my LCS, I may pick it up.

I'm just saying, knowing what you read because you like it and knowing what the book has to offer, I don't think you'll dig it.

Then I'd stop buying it. Doesn't mean I can't try.

Complain when I try something, or when I don't, sheesh! :oldrazz:

I'm just trying to curb the eventual disappointment that you're going to have. I mean, I don't think there's any capes in this book; there are certainly no bright colors. You may want to stay away, dude.

Fair enough. Like I said, the 31st is a slow week, if I feel like it and I can find it, I may give an issue or so a whirl.

If I didn't like stuff without capes and bright colors, I'd never get through HEROES. ;)

Isn't Heroes a TV show? Case in point. :o

This is a no win situation. Now if I like the damned book you'll be going, "See, you can read that, so why not dump _____ and read _____" before long. :whatever:

Anyway, so the Black Dhalia gang sounds interesting. Ties into old Hollywood lore and current stuff, too. And I like how THE ORDER is episodic yet has subplots that carry over. That is how to have the best of serials and trades.

No, I'm done recommending books to you. No matter how good they are, if they're not all bright colors and spandex, you're not interested. It's taken time, but I've learned.

I don't think I have read a more condescending statement all day. :D Awesome.

Damn. Looking at it again, you're right. I didn't mean it to that ***hole-ish. It was more matter of fact then anything. I mean, I am right. Right?

Yes and no. I brought up in another thread that as equal a limitation on my buying habits is disposable income at the moment, and that I don't rule out the oppurtunity of buying shelves worth of trades/series I have heard great things about in a few years when I have a better gig and more moolah.

It is more justifiable for me to invest money in franchises/genres/interests in comics that I have had for a while. By that logic I should be even stricter with dumping series that I can rarely admit are that terrific, but that's where the fanboyism comes in.

Yeah, you need the drop those Unverse books. That's a bad habit, dude. I mean Unverse Power? C'mon. That's got nothing going for it.

I do actually like UFF.

Ultimate Power is about finishing it at this point. The story itself is good, just it was spread out way too much. The only book in recent memory that I actually dropped without seeing how it ended was WARSONG.

Picking that crap up in the first place was the problem. I mean, it's Bendis and Greg Land. That's basically one big "STAY AWAY" sign.

At the time, it was the best thing Bendis was writing solo. :p

I just looked at ebay, and someone is literally selling the first 5 issues, non varient edition and not CGC'd, for $1.50. For FIVE of them. Ouch.

And hence is the dilemma. If I don't finish it, I never know how it ends, and I am stuck with it forever. It would have been a better story had they decided not to stretch it 9 issues and pass it off to three writers like a canker sore.

You and the Unverse. I don't understand it. *shakes head*

I bought all the titles when they launched; in fact they were some of the first comics I started buying about 6 years ago, back when I got back into comics after high school because they were #1's and I didn't have to worry about years of detailed backstory that I had missed. I actually didn't buy USM until about a year later and did so via trades until the SABLE arc; the title had slipped considerably by CARNAGE but it wasn't until CLONE that I grew too disgusted to bother anymore. The other Ultimate titles haven't reached that level yet. Granted, I never counted Ultimates because it was always slow, it felt like a mini to me.

Other people read them too, y'know. :p

But then you grew up. And you still bought UP.

It actually isn't a bad story. It is a straight up Avengers vs. Squadron Supreme story, only in Ultimate. The big hurdle was the writer transitions weren't so smooth sometimes, and it was too damned long. No way this should have been 9 issues. No way. Few stories can sustain more than 6 issues and plenty shouldn't even be that long. ULTIMATE POWER would have been tight at like 5 issues max with everyone co-writing. But instead they got greedy. Oh well.

The fact that you can say that and think nothing of it, saddens me. :(

The funny thing is you are irritated by me not trying certain books yet you're dead set against Ultimate. :o

That's because the Unverse sucks. Stop making this harder then it needs to be.
