From THE CHAMPIONS to THE ORDER

From his sexy Supernaut suit. Hottest thing this side of an industrial refrigerator.

I'm with PhotoJones on this. The cast of The Order all have had their personal demons, and their "baggage" and their issues. But so do most "normal" people out there, if you look hard enough. And it isn't stuff like, "Kang from an alternate reality killed my father's uncle's clone" or a lot of that comic book stuff. I mean, it is tied to comic book stuff (as Harry is connected to Iron Man), but it seems more down to earth and relatable than something complicated. And like I said, they're not all unlikeable *****es like some actual well known heroes are written nowadays from writers like Millar or Bendis. Muholland probably has the roughest chip on her shoulder, but she can tone it down and she likely has a reason for it. But I wouldn't call them "****'d up". They're very human. And that is great for new, original characters.

I will be interested in seeing how the trades are solicted and sell, because I could see some readers who may not be heavilly into Marvel enjoying the trade as it is, as a new thing with loose connections.

I'm looking forward to reading Milo's origin as well as her's, and I wonder if Heavy will get one, too. His would have to be an issue #7 or so. As in Trade #2.

I was thinking about how Milo and Heavy were going to fit into the first storyline, too. Maybe issue #6 will have a split origin for the both of them. Whatever happens, the books in very good hands. Fraction and Kitson make for a great team.

I don't know, I'm patient. I could wait until issue #7 for Heavy or whoever. Fraction likes the fact that the issues seem "TV episodic" when they begin, focusing on a new character at the start every time. Why fix what ain't broke?

After all, trying to fix what ain't broke is usually the cause of many of comic book's greatest screw-ups. :word:

Oh, I'm all for Fraction doing what he wants. He's at his best when left to his own devices. I was just thinking in terms of Marvel's seemingly mandatory 6 issue storyline for the trade rule.

Yeah. I don't see why a second trade can't begin with a Heavy intro story along the same format. The series has had an arc, but not every issue has been so rigid, sliced into some 1-2 part stories that connect to the subplot. Fraction understands, perhaps, that more people read it as a serial, and thus caters to that.

More writers should do that, rather than using the "it reads better in trade" excuse for their pacing issues.

I agree. But, such is the way of comics these days. If you can't collect it in a trade or digest format, it's not fit to print, unfortunately.

To be fair, the times aren't as rigid as they were 3-4 years ago in that regard. We've had plenty of stories/arcs on various books that were under 6 issues. There is somewhat more leeway in that regard than, say, in 2004 when ASTONISHING X-MEN launched.

As a brand new property, I would be interested in trade sales, though.

So is Fraction, I'm sure. Having Kitson as your artist gives you the benefit of the sales doubt, but how long will that last? I'm sure he's as eager as the rest to see what kind of business the first trade will get.

Sales looked good with #3,a slight boost if I'm not mistaken,or a simple correction of the numbers.

If things level out,it looks like it'll be keeping Iron Fist company in the 60s.

I just hope Marvel doesn't pull the plug on either books anytime soon. Then again,I'm doubtful they will,I can't see them expecting these books to sell more than 30k.

As I stated last page, according to the numbers I looked at, issue #1 debuted at 57k, but the second issue saw a drop of 30%, which is a bit steep, even as far as second issue drops go. Issue #3 saw a drop of 15% further, which at least means that sales are growing stable as it builds a small but steady audience. Issue #3 sold around 33-34k and was in the Top 65-70 range; it outsold IMMORTAL IRON FIST ANNUAL basically.

Over the past year or so, Marvel's sales policy seems to be that a book is safe in terms of sales if it can remain in the Top 95-100. Many books can accomplish this with sales around 27k or so these days, although some months that is pushing it. Of course, if a book has critical acclaim and has a writer that Marvel "likes", then things are helped.

I am hoping that this book can maintain a steady audience and stay in the thick of things a while. :)

$800 a month is actually a decent deal for the outer boroughs of New York, like Brooklyn where I live (or Queens, the Bronx, etc). In the crappy building where I live, starting rents are around $850 a month, give or take. In Manhattan the actual CITY, starting rents are usually higher; I've heard of studio apartments in the business district going for over a grand a month.

Pfft,I know,it's crazy.I want to move there one day, fell in love with the city this past summer.

Pretty much anywhere between California and New York is cheaper than those two states. That is why more people leave NYC than immigrate there; not counting illegal immigrants, of course. ;)

Yea,despite the high cost of living there, there's just so much to do there.More than anywhere else I've ever been, and I've been to most of the major US cities besides Boston.

Chicago is gorgeous too,I have relatives who live there.Definitely an option.
