"From The Pages Of..." Comics Universe RPG: Season I Signup/OOC Thread

Yep. This takes place directly after TLC.

Very cool. Sean Connery is always a plus.

The Indy trilogy is by far my favorite movie series, and I'm really excited to see how you incorporate it and its characters into the game.

Anyone mind if Jones gets involved in the Turtle/Rorschach arc?

I'm all for it if you can some how make sense of Indy getting into the vigilante line of work.

But I don't know if Rorschach will enjoy someone else wearing a fedora.

Oh ****! Durant's gonna make himself an army of Jasons!

I figured that because Indy is going to Egypt, it would make sense for him to go to the city for a consultation with a colleague. While there, the cab he's in is involved in an accident when some of Shredder's goons blow up a bank just to cause chaos.

Sounds good to me.

Where the hell is everyone?

*waits*

*goes to get gun*

So, yeah. No shocker here. I'm dropping Hellboy.

Time for me to boldly go where no other RPer has gone before!

From The Pages Of... RPG APPLICATION

Screen Name: Byrd Man

Character you'd like to portray: Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: A normal human, Dr. McCoy is well versed on medical treatments of the 23rd century and even before then.

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): Star Trek which has been published by may companies including Gold Key Comics, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Malibu Comics, Wildstorm, and currently IDW Publishing.

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it):

From wiki: Dr, Leonard "Bones" McCoy was born in the American south in 2227. After completion of high school, McCoy attended the University of Mississippi where he graduated from medical school. In 2266, McCoy completed training in star fleet and was posted as chief medical officer of the USS Enterprise under Captain James T. Kirk.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Hero.

List a few reasons why you chose this character: Trek is coming out in a month, I'm a victim of the buzz and I think Bones is the one member of the enterprise I can play well.

How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: He'll be pretty much the real McCoy *rimshot*

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: Dammit, man! I'm a doctor not an RPer! :cmad:

How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: Many as nessecary.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:

Space

"Dr. McCoy. If I may have a word?" Spock says as the door to to the medical bay slides open.

I look up from my medical book and nod.

"I have sensed an underlining feeling of tension when you adress me. Something that I find highly illogical, given the fact that you and I have not known each other long enough for there to be tension."

I scowl and toss my medical book to the side.

"That's your damn, problem! I see the way you look at people, sizing them up like cattle. You're a damn alien, and I don't trust you even if you are half human!"

"I assure you, that I do not wish you any harm. I only wish to explore the reaches of space, and exactly find out why we are here, what is our purpose in the galaxy."

I walk up to Spock and poke my finger in his chest.

"Just say out of my way, and keep your logic to yourself!"
"This is Lieutenant Sulu, Dr. McCoy." The speaker in the medical bay comes to life.

"What is it?"

"Captain Kirk wishes to see you on the bridge."

"Tell Jim I'm on the way."

I turn off the speaker and narrow my eyes at Spock.

"Remember what I said, Vulcan."

I spin on my heels and leave the medical bay, leaving the half-Vulcan behind me.

I'm with you man!

Screen Name: wiegeabo

Character you'd like to portray: Captain James Tiberius Kirk

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: Does a flying jumpkick count as a superpower? Kirk is a normal human. But he's a master strategist and tactician, as well as an expert in hand-to-hand combat.

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): Star Trek #1, Gold Key comics, 1967.

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it): A not so typical child of a Starfleet officer, Jim Kirk saw his fair share of space, worlds, tragedy, and teenage trouble growing up. But it all turned around when he enlisted in Starfleet Academy

As a cadet, Kirk excelled at strategy and tactics, as well as leadership. Despite getting into his fair share of fights and trouble, he was a standout student. He even received a commendation for original thinking for being the first, and only, cadet to ever beat the infamous Kobayashi Maru no-win scenario.

After graduating the Academy, Kirk quickly proved himself a capable officer and rose through the ranks to become the youngest captain in Starfleet history. Now, he faces his first missions with a new ship and untested crew.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Hero

List a few reasons why you chose this character: He's the Goddamn Kirk! I'm a lifelong Trek fan, and the chance to play the most iconic of captains is too good an opportunity to pass up.

How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: This will pick up with the start of Kirk's first five year mission as captain of the Enterprise. Essentially at the beginning of the series with all of Trek history/future to play with. Elements from the upcoming movie may also make there way into this version.

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: I'm a well experienced player in a number of games on this board. I'm a trekker (I consider trekkies the ones that go that one, or twelve, steps too far) know this universe very well. Plus, there's always the chance for some time travel. ;)

How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: At least once a day if needed.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:

My best friend is dead. The man I've known and trusted for over a decade, ever since the Academy, is gone.

And I killed him.

I walk down one of the corridor's of my ship. Crew members politely nod at me as they pass by, and I absently return the gesture. But my thoughts are light-years away.

On the planet I had to kill my best friend.

But I had no choice. Gary was becoming too powerful. His humanity was gone. If I hadn't have stopped him...who knows what damage he could have wrecked throughout the galaxy. How else does one stop a mad god?

I step into my quarters, the doors automatically opening and closing for me. Rubbing the exhaustion from my eyes, I sit on my bed and lay back, hoping for some relief and peace in a few hours of sleep.

The whistle of the comm tells me otherwise. "Spock to Captain Kirk."

I turn over and press the button on the console. "Kirk here." Mr. Spock. My science officer, and next in line to be my first officer. A man I hardly know or understand. I don't even know if I can trust someone who keeps their emotions bottled up, and yet if a captain can't trust his first officer, then the mission is doomed to failure.

"Captain, you are needed on the bridge."

I sit up and crack my neck. "On my way. And have my yeoman meet me up there with coffee. Lots of coffee."

There's a brief pause on the other side. "Yes, sir," he says simply.

I sigh. The next five years should prove interesting indeed...

I have a vague recollection of Star Trek being discussed when the game was in it's infancy. I honestly have no idea what conclusion we came to, so I'll approve you both for now. If MB objects, I hope he will vocalize it.

Crap, reapply for Angel or attempt Doctor Who. I'm so conflicted...

Or, Angel could come up to Alaska and help Chuck and Buffy fight vamps.

Screen Name: Catman_prb

Character you'd like to portray: Angel

Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: Advanced regenerative powers, notable hand to hand combat techniques...oh and he's a vampire.

Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): Buffy the Vampire Slayer, WB

Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it):
Born Liam, in 18th century Ireland, Angel was sired by the vampire Darla. He then rampaged around Europe with her as Angelus, siring other vampires such as William the Bloody, and the totally insane Drusilla. However, he was cursed with a soul by a group of gypsies in the late 19th Century. Consumed with guilt, he wandered around the globe, trying to seek penance. Eventually he came to Sunnydale and fell in love with the new Slayer, Buffy Summers. After a long set of circumstances, including becoming evil again and being sent to hell, Angel decided it was too dangerous to stay in Sunnydale with Buffy, and instead left to Los Angeles. After co-founding Angel Investigations with Allen Doyle and Cordelia Chase to 'help the helpless', he became one of the foremost champions for the Powers That Be. Constantly hounded by the evil law firm, Wolfram and Hart, Angel worked for penance for the acts he commited as Angelus. Saving the world from many Apocalypses and recruiting many more members to Team Angel, he finally declined the leadership of Wolfram and Hart, opting to stay at the Hyperion and not risk corruption. Forming an uneasy working relationship with the BPRD, often taking on freelance contracts for when a red giant isn't subtle enough, Angel and his team continue to work in a world that seems to be changing faster than they can keep up.

Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Hero

List a few reasons why you chose this character:
  • <LI itxtvisited="1">One of my favourite shows. Ever. <LI itxtvisited="1">I've always wanted to play him in an RPG.
  • Erm...cool leather jacket?
How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: Well I've pretty much set the cut-off point at the end of Season 4 and I plan to have Angel take part in more global paranormal crisis'

Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: Darkly humurous horror with the occasional bit of angst. Oh, and cookies.

How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: As many as I need.

Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:
The playground was almost deserted, except for the two little girls who were sitting on the swings, gently rocking back and forth. They looked around as one at the newcomers, who disrupted their quiet little world. Angel looked between the twins, duster jacket blustering in a wind that also mussed up his hair.

"You know what I want to hear," he said, awkwardly. The two girls looked at each other and smiled.

"The Slayer's dead,
She's lost her head-" the pair began in unison.

They were cut off when a large broadsword swept around in a wide arc, slicing through their necks and severing their heads completely. Angel shrugged at the disapproving look that Lorne was giving him.

"They were evil!" he protested quitely.

Lorne sighed and shuffled his jacket.

"I know, Angel-cakes, but we've talked about this. You don't rid the world of evil until after we've got the information," he said, running a green hand over his face. Angel shrugged again.

"Come on, let's get back to the Hotel," Lorne said, walking out of the playpark. Angel followed him, looking at the blood on his sword.

"They were evil right?" he said.

"Eh," Lorne said "Either way. Twins give me the heeby jeebies,"

Plus Spike is up in Alaska with Harmony (and the chip) I changed some things around a bit because GL hadn't seen past season 5 and I didn't want to spoil things for him.

So that could also be interesting....

I haven't posted lately as I wasn't sure exactly what's going on, but I'll get a post up either tonight or tomorrow.

Well feel free to get on GL's ass about Casey and Buffy. I plan to once he's on MSN. :o

So Gallagher's on his habitual three-day drinks rave, MM is two days into an eleven day cruise, and MB is a procrastinating *******. Why isn't Wieg a GM?! I can't approve myself dammit!
