I'm with you man!
Screen Name: wiegeabo
Character you'd like to portray: Captain James Tiberius Kirk
Superhuman powers, traits, other attributes of interest: Does a flying jumpkick count as a superpower? Kirk is a normal human. But he's a master strategist and tactician, as well as an expert in hand-to-hand combat.
Originally appearing from (which comic, and company?): Star Trek #1, Gold Key comics, 1967.
Fictional history of the character (as you're going to interpret it): A not so typical child of a Starfleet officer, Jim Kirk saw his fair share of space, worlds, tragedy, and teenage trouble growing up. But it all turned around when he enlisted in Starfleet Academy
As a cadet, Kirk excelled at strategy and tactics, as well as leadership. Despite getting into his fair share of fights and trouble, he was a standout student. He even received a commendation for original thinking for being the first, and only, cadet to ever beat the infamous Kobayashi Maru no-win scenario.
After graduating the Academy, Kirk quickly proved himself a capable officer and rose through the ranks to become the youngest captain in Starfleet history. Now, he faces his first missions with a new ship and untested crew.
Hero, Villain, or Walking the line?: Hero
List a few reasons why you chose this character: He's the Goddamn Kirk! I'm a lifelong Trek fan, and the chance to play the most iconic of captains is too good an opportunity to pass up.
How will this character differ from it's original incarnation?: This will pick up with the start of Kirk's first five year mission as captain of the Enterprise. Essentially at the beginning of the series with all of Trek history/future to play with. Elements from the upcoming movie may also make there way into this version.
Write two complete sentences explaining what you can bring to this RPG: I'm a well experienced player in a number of games on this board. I'm a trekker (I consider trekkies the ones that go that one, or twelve, steps too far) know this universe very well. Plus, there's always the chance for some time travel.
How many days a week you intend on posting in the RPG: At least once a day if needed.
Please provide a small sample post as your character, at least three paragraphs and one line of dialogue in length:
My best friend is dead. The man I've known and trusted for over a decade, ever since the Academy, is gone.
And I killed him.
I walk down one of the corridor's of my ship. Crew members politely nod at me as they pass by, and I absently return the gesture. But my thoughts are light-years away.
On the planet I had to kill my best friend.
But I had no choice. Gary was becoming too powerful. His humanity was gone. If I hadn't have stopped him...who knows what damage he could have wrecked throughout the galaxy. How else does one stop a mad god?
I step into my quarters, the doors automatically opening and closing for me. Rubbing the exhaustion from my eyes, I sit on my bed and lay back, hoping for some relief and peace in a few hours of sleep.
The whistle of the comm tells me otherwise. "Spock to Captain Kirk."
I turn over and press the button on the console.
"Kirk here." Mr. Spock. My science officer, and next in line to be my first officer. A man I hardly know or understand. I don't even know if I can trust someone who keeps their emotions bottled up, and yet if a captain can't trust his first officer, then the mission is doomed to failure.
"Captain, you are needed on the bridge."
I sit up and crack my neck.
"On my way. And have my yeoman meet me up there with coffee. Lots of coffee."
There's a brief pause on the other side.
"Yes, sir," he says simply.
I sigh. The next five years should prove interesting indeed...
