Frozen 2

Literally all these movies except Artemis Fowl look or sound great so far. Mulan is my absolute favorite Disney movie and the remake looks like the best one Disney has done yet. Just a personal opinion.
Which is why they are doing months of reshoots on it. :o

Saw it last night. I'll parrot what others are saying that this isn't as good as the first one. Some of the music felt forced. Also, the bond between Elsa and Anna seems to a little too over the top. I will say that Olaf's stories stole the show for me. Overall, it's enjoyable and I think it's hard trying to recreate what they did with the 1st movie even though I felt this was different enough.

And off topic, Moana > Frozen & Tangled. :o
What music did you feel was forced? As to the bond between Elsa and Anna, I think their history kind of shows why Anna is how she is with Elsa. She spent half her life separated from her sister and finally got her back.

I wonder what the rationale was to have Frozen 2 and Star Wars Episode 9 released in the same year in less than a month apart. Did Disney want to have its cake and eat it too?
I didn't understand Aladdin and Lion King out in the same year either.

2019 is Disney's A side of the record (Captain Marvel, Endgame, Aladdin, Lion King, Toy Story 4, Frozen 2 & Rise of Skywalker)
2020 as it looks now is it's B side (Black Widow, Eternals, Soul, Mulan, Artemis Fowl, Onward & Jungle Cruise)
Covering the cost involved with paying for Fox, Galaxy's Edge and launching Disney+. They needed a super big year to make up for how much they "lost" in investments this year. It will boost their financial quarters, and soften their losses.

Frozen 2 is picking up steam.

Tuesday estimate was $20.5m and actuals ended up increasing to $20.8m (biggest November Tuesday ever). Wednesday early predictions were F2 would match the Tuesday number, but the new estimates have jumped up to $23.5m for Wednesday and the 5 day weekend forecast (Wed-Sun) has F2 at $135m-$140m which would put it near, or over $300m by the end of the weekend putting a $500m-$550m well within range.❄️:wow:❄️

You forgot The One and Only Ivan / Raya and the Last Dragon!

No problem with you putting Zootopia at the top there its my second favorite disney animated movie ever behind only lion king.
Well it was obvious that we're ranking their princess films so I understand why Zootopia wasn't there, but yes it is amazing.

I'm shocked that I actually liked Olaf's song. :funny:
I was kind of bored with it when I first heard it. Felt too much like a retread for me. But then I saw it in theaters, and now I can't stop going, "Samantha?".

Saw it last night. The first Frozen really broke the mold of princess tales with one princess experiencing false love at first sight, the other Letting Go instead of taking the crown (at first), and sibling love saving the day. But this one seemed like a standard sequel.

The
Black Panther and 'Ragnaroky' type tale of exposing a nation's shady past
was obvious early on. And the flick reminded me of Godfather III in its celebration of the earlier, superior, installment.

Overall Frozen II was ok but I found it underwhelming.

For me it was ending it with "this is fine" it reminds me of that meme of the cartoon dog sitting in the burning house.

so, to prepare for Frozen 2, I've rewatched Frozen again for the first time (in forever) in 6 years.

I must say, I actually enjoyed it more seeing it again. I mentioned in an earlier post that I liked Tangled more than Frozen, but now I think that might have flipped. There's something about the characters in Frozen that I really connect to. And the impossible happened, too. Elsa may have just replaced Belle (who replaced Ariel) as my favorite Disney princess.

As a guy who loves comic books and superheroes, Elsa just feels like the most "superheroish" of the princesses. She reminds me a lot of Raven from the Titans, who is also a favorite character of mine. And based off of what I know about Frozen 2, it seems like Elsa goes on her own "hero's journey" so to speak, complete with her own "fortress of solitude." so, I think I will like that.

I guess I really connect to Elsa's struggles and her longing to be free from her isolation and discovering who she's meant to be. And I see myself in Anna, too. Even Kristoff.

And I really relate to what Anna went through with Hans, because I experienced something similar in the past. Though not as extreme or foolish as meeting and getting engaged in just a few hours......lol. But I know what it's like to fall quickly for the "first person" you meet only to get your heart broken. And watching Hans flirt with Anna at the beginning brought back memories of what happened to me........haha. Similar mannerisms and behavior. I guess, like Anna, I was a fool and a sucker. :(

So, I'm looking forward to seeing Frozen 2, hopefully tomorrow. I'm just not sure if it can top the 1st film, so I'm trying not to get my expectations up too much. But listening to the Frozen 2 songs is getting me anxious to see the actual scenes in the movie. Especially Into the Unknown and Show Yourself.

Frozen 2 is a boxoffice beast.

Friday estimates are $35m-$36m. I'm hoping it's even more, the last 3 days the actuals were all higher than the estimates..

I saw F2 again tonight, along with Knives Out. It's been a long time since I've seen 2 really good movies the same day in the theater.
I think I liked F2 even more the 2nd time around.

I thought that was what they were referring to.

I want to watch this soon. Really liked the first.

Just got back! Loved it! I felt it was a worthy sequel. Show Yourself was my favorite song (and scene) in the movie. Into The Unknown was a close 2nd. The other songs, surprisingly, have started to grow on me, too.

I liked where they went with the story and how it added to the lore. Olaf was funny and thankfully not too annoying. His scene where he reenacted the 1st film got the biggest laugh in the theater.

The one slight negative I had was Kristoff's character. I felt he was kind of sidelined in favor of the sisters (who are obviously the stars). But, it seemed like Kristoff only revolved around proposing to Anna and he didn't have much else to do in the film. Compared to the 1st film, I felt he was the one character who took a step back.
But, I didn't really go to see the film for Kristoff. I went for Elsa, of course. Goddess Elsa with her hair down FTW!! :atp::atp::atp:

Box Office: ‘Frozen 2’ $42 Million Friday Signals The Death Of The Breakout Sequel

Are you actually saying this was nothing more than a clickbait headline rather than noting it's the holiday season and family films like this usually get a nice boost from Thanksgiving weekend anyway?

Yeah, that headline clearly didn't account for the holiday season.

I just noticed something else, if you take off the $8.5 from Thursday previews the true opening Friday was $33.7m. That means with $34.1 in it's 2nd Friday it actually beat its opening Friday.❄️:D❄️

Yes! I do wish Disney had done more to promote Show Yourself, since I feel very feel strongly that it’s the best song in the movie. They didn’t even have a “pop” version in the credits, which baffles me: they recorded a pop version of the mom’s lullaby, but not of the showstopper third act power anthem?

totally agree. I feel Show Yourself lends itself more to a pop version than Into Unknown.

Show Yourself already has a more "pop" vibe to it with the guitar chords and beat to it.

They've been touting Into the Unknown as the new Let It Go.
