G8: Still Just As Action-Packed!

Kenny Chesney being gay wouldn't surprise me at all.

If he wasn't before, being married to Renee Zellwegger would push him over the edge. :o

Heck, Tracy Morgan would become gay in that scenario. :oldrazz:

*yawn*

I'm sure there's been several closted (or uncloseted) country singers out there... but this guy's actually the only one who's becoming successful while being very public about it. Which is the point.

I'm sure there's an 80 year closeted country singer out there who's been singing for decades

No. There's been three or four OUT singers who have had success before this guy. And they were also very public about it.

They just weren't as attractive as this guy. So he gets the glory. I'm not even a country music fan really, and even I know this. C'mon now. Google is your friend:
Mark Weigle
Drake Jensen
and let's not forget k.d. lang who started off as a country singer. And was pretty much ALWAYS out.

I think that article about sums it up

KD Lang is a folk singer far more than a country singer (there is a difference)

and the fact most people go "who the hell are Mark Weigle and Drake Jensen" somes up there popularity and success instantly.

good marketing, good publicity, and promoting yourself in a time where things are far more socially acceptable does wonders.

Those who do it "best" always end up getting the glory...

Most people still think Columbus first discovered america... and completely ignore poor Leif Erikson and Saint Brendan

so don't take it too literal when someone says he's the "first" because there will always be someone who did it first, just wasn't very good at promoting themselves

or the countless people that were already living in America at the time.

Sorry, pet peeve.

I'd like to gear everyone's attention to the "Andrew Garfield is Spider-Man " thread and witness the discussion I am having in that thread.

*tracks down and reads last two pages of thread*

Are you referring to the question about whether it's sexist to comment on an actor's looks, or this JOE character assuming that all the straight guys in the thread would be weirded out by your comments just because he was?

Kind of sort of both.

I have kind of taken it upon myself to go into threads and "sexualize" the male characters the way I see people talking about the female ones. I'm really doing it as kind of a joke and commentary on the ridiculous situation.

But yeah, his "weirded out" comment really bothered me.

People may think I'm going overboard with it, but oh well. You can't go a page without seeing someone comment on Anne Hathaways ass in her costume or how shailene woodley isn't hot enough for MJ.
Sure, people comment on the actors looks as well, but no where near as much as with the females.
People always talk about an actors acting credibility in terms of how they will play said character, but with actresses, it's more like, "is she hot enough for this character? Nah she doesn't even look like the character. She's too short. Her body isn't good enough." Etc

This stuff is always going to happen, I'm just doing it with male characters and actors. Sorry not sorry!

No. Her first three albums were all country. She wore the crazy Patsy Cline-looking outfits and everything.

After that, yeah. She went both pop and folk, even big band with her sound.

Most people don't know who this guy is either. He's just the latest YouTube sensation before they get bored and move on to someone else.

We'll see if he can parlay that into something with more longevity. Also, calling him a country artist is really a stretch. There's nothing in that song that makes it "country" despite a backwoods style video. It's just lite-pop/rock power ballad at best. Change some pronouns around and it wouldn't sound out of place on some MOR band's album.

Don't forget the Chinese! The people who were already living here, and our earliest ancestors who crossed over the frozen tundra to settle here.

I take more umbridge with people dubbing him a "star." That's like me describing myself as a screenwriter when all I've done is co-written a short film with my best friend and worked as a script supervisor/editor for two of my friends scripts.

People like to throw around titles and meaningless platitudes towards people who haven't earned it yet because they're shiny and new. And look really hot without their shirts on. The song's ok. He's very cute.

If there was a thread about the official cast for XDOFP I would totally go in there and talk about how all of those attractive men make me feel all tingly and naughty in fun places and how I just want to slip under the covers and enjoy it.

Objectification works both ways! Cis-gendered heterosexual white men aren't the only ones who get to partake. If they truly feel so uncomfortable about it, they should take a minute and think about how their constant drooling and creeper comments about random females make them sound to the opposite. Or to anyone who doesn't have the same gender or sexual identity that they have.

The world's a big place. There's lots of folks in it.

You should hang out in the X-Men: Days of Future Past forum. There's a photo thread dedicated to gushing about the actors' looks, and they only post pics of the men in the cast.

I thought the Avengers was tough enough to get through. How am I going to survive in a movie with:

James McAvoy
Michael Fassbender
Shawn Ashmore
Daniel Cudmore
Booboo Stewart
Adan Canto
Hugh Jackman
Evan Peters
Nicholas Hoult
Omar Sy
Hell, Patrick Stewart looks GREAT at his age!

I know I'm forgetting someone.....

Haha, exactly!

Frankly, I'm creeped out by greasy dudebro fan boys who compare actresses and post comments like ,''would bang.'' 'Would not bang''.

Lucas Till?

By the way, you're quick. I edited that post out as soon as I noticed you'd pretty much pointed that thread out already.

EDIT
Actually, it looks like you didn't point that thread out. You were being hypothetical. But it's there. Oh boy, it's there.

Well, it's not like we don't do that... We just do it in a safer zone.

Well, ok. I have a "reputation" for doing it in any thread and not giving two ****s about it. Sorry not sorry.
Lucas Till?
YES! He's also very cute.

I don't spend much time here anymore. At work I'm getting some training on accounting. And, frankly, the videos and training materials are incredibly boring and dull. So in-between them I needed some entertainment. So I came back here.

Also - Buzzfeed, Facebook, The Wrap, Rolling Stone, Entertain Weekly. I bounce around. :woot:

Yeah, screw it. I ain't stopping :o

When MOS came out, I made sure I went into a bunch of threads and said things like, ''OMG Henry Cavill is soooooo damn hot. That chest hair creeping out of his suit? YUMMMMM yes please!''

Rude! :cmad:

But accurate. :o

After which, Morgan would promptly kill himself. But 30 Rock is off the air now, so no one would care or notice.

Come on man, nobody's gay for Peter Dinklage? That guy's so smooth, he could talk both Kate Upton and Idris Elba into having sex with him. Concurrently.

He's no Danny Woodburn. :o

AMEN!

I spent most of MOS just staring at Cavill bulging all over in that suit and just wanting to touch him.

Same thing happened with Pacific Rim. But that was a combo of Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba and the Australian *****e who had the bulldog. I turned to my boyfriend and said "My ***** lips hurt just staring at these guys" midway through.

Idris Elba?
Yes, please.
