BvS Gal Gadot IS Wonder Woman! - - Part 14

I wonder when we will get some new interviews? Maybe Gadot will talk about the costume once the reveal is out?

Really? Well for starters it helps you glide on wind currents as evident by Batman and again Storm. They work like wings.

Any more questions El Capitano?

Why does Superman or Thor wear one other than it looking cool?

They don't need a cape to glide or to help them fly. In fact if you wanna talk functionality it probably creates a bit of drag. Which i guess doesn't matter when they can go from 0 to Mach 10 in the blink of an eye lol.

To be fair Scarlett Witches costumes from the comics are a lot more titillating than Wonder Woman's.

What? Scarlett Witch wears more clothes than WW. I thought you said that as long as you can wear it on a beach everything is fine. You could wear it to a beach or brothels I would think you find that appealing. :o

Jk... but seriously. :o

Would be nice, but probably not. Fleck didn't say anything after his suit was revealed. Although Gal does have her Twitter page we can always check up on.

You asked me a question and I gave a truthful answer. Those two have capes as a sign of stature from there worlds. Even then they are not of this world and defy gravity at mock speeds. I doubt they notice a cape giving them a little drag.

Lol no way does she. Scarlett Witch is basically wearing a Borat style mankini. She must get serious wedgies ;)

I don't think you can compare WW's costume to Scarlett Witch's.

What about Elektra or Huntress? Damn.

haha yea. If you compare WW's costume to the vast majority of other female comic book character costumes... well, there is no comparison.

Wonder Woman's is clearly the least titillating than any other female hero/villains. (apart from Supergirl and now Powergirl)

It's funny hearing people talk about wedgies since Gadot featured in headlines when she was photographed pulling the back of her dress! But I like the classic costume. I hope they at least use some elements from it.

Again SW actually wears more clothes than WW.

Hmm i stand corrected. But Wanda has definitely been portrayed in skimpier outfits than that before.

I understand there has always been a double standard when it comes to men/women, but considering Diana comes from a secluded island (surrounded by sea) and full of women, it would make sense she is comfortable with her body and has no shame in showing it. To her, its just something natural.

They show virtually the same amount of skin. I think nostalgia is clouding your judgment.

I wonder if Joss Whedon's Scarlet Witch will wear her iconic outfit?

Just kidding. I'm not wondering. I already know the answer.

Same here. Whedon would never do that to the character on the big screen. I really hope Snyder doesn't make me wish BvS was a Whedon film.

I've had many conversations with my female friends on Facebook about Wonder Woman. The like the classic look. The undies and corset...one of them even went so far as to say Wonder Woman's nickname is Wonder Boobs for reason. If I could post that conversation here I would.

Good grief. The fact that you think this is actually a defense for your position shows how flawed it really is. "Wonder boobs"? You think it's perfectly fine that people would call her that? You think that's good for her as a character? That's certainly not the kind of WW I want Gadot to be.

WW wears a strapless corset and panties. She is right up there with the worse of them, but I think you got that now from the pics posted by Jaymes. Those illustrate how she's typically drawn. Some artists will deviate from that, but most don't. Again, not what I want for Gadot.

you hit all the points :cwink:

It's all about what you want isn't it? Typical bloody woman. :oldrazz:

You'd be much better served if you stopped trying to justify it from a fictional narrative standpoint and paid attention to what the implication is to how the general audience will react to her depiction.

You can use a piece of source material to justify almost any view in relation to her character, making a statement like "it's logical in her culture because..." can be used to reinforce the opposing argument just as easily.

It could just as easily be said that because she's royalty and has a certain social standing in her community it could be logical for her to be shown as having some modesty (contrary to the male-focused source material, I know).

I know exactly how the general audience would react. Some will think it's good. Some will think it's bad. The rest won't care.

Indeed.:woot:

To be honest though, I do think my idea of WW would be better received by the GA, if the response to the treatment of Black Widow is any indication. BW is still sexy, but nowhere near the levels of ridiculous seen in many comics.

The GA loved Faora and she wasn't wearing a bathing suit.

Though, she was still very feminine. I watched the MoS bluray. The choreographers said they based her movements on her gymnastics background.

There is a difference, though. Everybody, generally, knows what Wonder Woman looks like and the costume she, traditionally, wears. They're not going to be shocked. If anything, they'd be expecting it. Did you see the reaction when DC changed this costume to the New 52 one with pants? People went ****ing crazy.

I think you're mostly right. However, considering the tone MoS created and what Snyder seems to be going for, it would be far more jarring for a woman to be standing around wearing a star spangled bathing suit than in something like this:

And if they have to piss off a vocal minority of inflexible nostalgia junkies to coherently introduce the character into the film universe, so be it. I guarantee the iteration shown above is going to get a lot less  looks than if she's kicking ass in a bikini next to Supes/Bats in their full suits.

That's the suit I would like to see. Or a Xena-esque type with the armour.

I think some people would. Look at the competition for BvS. The big movies nowadays aren't putting the females in swimsuits or anything ridiculous. WW would be the only one and I don't think a character running around in a swimsuit next to bats and supes would get the same respect and love that BW and Faora got.

The people who read WW comics and demand that she wear panties are a relatively small (and less diverse) group than the targeted audience for this movie. Comics are usually targeted foremost towards men.

I'd put money on them using a pants/tights version of her outfit, it fits the atmosphere best I think, and allows her to be taken seriously.
