I really doubt that. Gambit's part in this movie will most likely be small, adding him to Wolveirne's origin would be like adding Hulk to the Spider-Man movie's origin. Since they are messing up continuity like this they are most likely not making a bold change.
Also Deadpool spawned more fans when Ultimate Alliance came out, totally non comic fans that I know now love him after playing as him in this game. It may boost him up to being on par with Gambit, the gap really isn't that large.
if you watched any of the last x-men films, you already have bub...I have to say I want to see Gambit but won't see the movie in the theatre.
As I've said, I don't want to give them my money for a Wolverine movie, sorry, but no.
You mean changes like killing off Cyclops and Xavier while having wolverine be the new leader?
Besides, he's already a part of Weapon x in the movie universe, remember stryker's files?
It's far larger than you think.
And Kitsch has reportedly had bo staff and vocal training to go along with his role, so it's starting to sound as if Gambit could be a rather important supporting character.
And... THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT "CONTINUITY," except the one established by the films. Look-we saw Gambit's name on Stryker's computer in X2. They know that. Odds are it means he's going to be made into a part of Weapon X, hence Stryker's knowledge of him.
It's a movie, not the comics. They'll do whatever they want.

Gambit was second only to Wolverine's popularity in less than a year after he debuted. Think about that for a second. In about 10 months, Gambit became popular enough to beat out people like Nightcrawler, Colossus, Iceman, and Angel for a spot on TAS.
It's been nearly 20 years and half of those have been horrible for Gambit, but guess what? He still ranked #1 in all three of the polls wizard magazine ran to see who fans wanted in the X-films the most.
Just to comment on this point - this doesn't enhance the chances that Gambit was/is a part of Weapon X. Established movie-verse characters (I think Storm was on the list, if not her then others) that had no connection to Weapon X were also on the list....we saw Gambit's name on Stryker's computer in X2. Not to say that he won't be, but that list appearance doesn't swing it any way.
Oh God, I was afraid this might happen.
*deep cleansing sigh*
You wanna talk healthy? Healthy is to have a studio that genuinely cares about the fans of these characters rather than the financial bottom line. Healthy is for Marvel to be making these movies not Fox. Healthy is to have an X-men franchise where the X-men are not ALL Wolverine's side-kicks, and for that matter it would be healthier for all the comic book fans in the world to not have characters shoved down their throats like Wolverine is.
So, in this pretty much all around UNHEALTHY situation we find ourselves in, the relationship between Gambit and Deadpool fans should be as close knit now as it ever was, as I feel there are a lot of Gambit fans who like Deadpool and vice versa. I myself consider them my top 2 marvel characters but in all honesty I could never choose between them. Fact is, they don't care about these characters. They care that we care. And they will craft the story in such a way to facilitate the existance of both of them in the same time and space. This has been the story with all the X-men movies so far. But the existance of one character cannot be healthy or unhealthy to the story of a movie.
Only good/bad writing gets that honor.

Without the over dramatic hulkified power clap.
But since X-men 3 proved to be such a stink fest, in the end I think it worked out best that Gambit stayed away from that.oh guys has anyone heard about how Kelsey Grammer had a heart attack, he played Beast so I thought I'd bring it up.
Gambit has a larger fan base, is much more well known, and has been in demand since the very first X-Movie.

Haha, fan pressure.Lebeau, what do you think is the main reason Gambit is in this movie?
I think the suggestion that sticking Gambit in will boost movie attendances is a ridiculous reason for giving him a bigger role. How many ****e comics did we see circulate in the 90's with 'Special Guest...GAMBIT/WOLVERINE' stapled on the front to push circulation. Stories went down the gurgler, so they tacked on some popular characters to make them appealing on the magazine stands.
This success of this movie will be about story...you need to draw the critics into a comicbook film in the same was as Iron Man did to get it largescale credibility and roll on sales. It needs to be a movie that's accessible by more than just action fans and the comic book kingdom. Thus, you use relevant characters. Gambit is a mutant with no link to Weapon X...it's awesome that they're using him in some way, maybe he helps Wolverine out at some stage...but Deadpool is Weapon X bred, more relevant and a far better way of weeding him into the storyline successfully.
Pushing Gambit because he was popular is a weak idea and is one of the reasons X3 suffered...Angel, Beast, etc were there to get people to see the film yet did very little for it. I'd hope that the producers, writers and director of this film are smarter than that.
I think I count myself amongst them. Is it so wrong and unhealthy to have one character in there who may or may NOT be related to the Weapon X project?
