Which is understandable, to an extent. And in earlier seasons they had manage to scale back the intricacies without putting the importance on, I not think is my issue, fanservice.
This. The book required for comparison aren't even out.
I've been fine with plenty of changes, wasn't bothered or even loved them. Hardhome is a top three for me, even though the situation is very different in the books. But it worked because in-universe there's nothing about it that doesn't make sense.
In season 7, there is the [blackout]the wight hunt. It just feel like some heavy fanservice with little rhyme or reason, with plenty of the best warriors (and Gendry?) teaming up to hunt zombies. Jon could have just executed someone deserving north of the wall then brought them south and waited for them to change.[/blackout]
