Game of Thrones General (Non-Book Related) Discussion Thread - Part 1

Random post.
The funny thing (so to speak ) is that the TV show ending for Daenerys may be the only ending for the author is no way near to finish the books.
Sad as it may be. GRRM did supposedly give Benioff and Weiss some of the major points of the ending. I'm assuming things like Daenerys burning King's Landing and Bran being king are going to happen in the book, or at least they were at the time he laid it all out for them. It's always possible Martin may change that given how things went down but even if those plot points remain the same, it's a given that it'll be done in a better way than the show because there's still over 2,000 pages to go so it won't be rushed.

No wonder he can't finish the books. The endings have already been given away.

I think if the books ever get finished, they'll only slightly resemble how the show ended. The broad outlines like Daenerys burning Kings Landing and Bran becoming king will probably remain but it won't be a rush job.

Not overly surprised since we've barely heard anything about it. I assume it'll be out early in the year if they're keeping with the summer slot for HOTD 3.

On the one hand, I can understand his frustration bc some of these fans have been acting out of pocket since the pages on ADWD were still warm. But…

It’s been 14 years, man. The last actual ASOIAF book dropped when Game of Thrones was still brand new. That show lapped you narratively and it ended six years ago. I don’t want to dictate anyone’s creative process, but let’s not act like some consternation isn’t warranted at this point.

i honestly wonder if he ever intended to finish it lol
