Sci-Fi Gareth Edwards's Jurassic World Rebirth

57% on 69 reviews. Can't say I am shocked. I am expecting it to drop more

50% wouldnt surprise me, i didnt expect it to be super high to begin with.
The Plot just isnt super unique or so.

Mind you im not complaining, i will be seated on Friday for it...a fun Dinosaur movie is always something i enjoy.
But there was really no way for this to get a score of 80 or so.

For that, you would have needed something else, something more...but what?
Im not sure where to go with the IP outside of Rebooting it.

My tastes are probably suspect after this but I just had a rewatch of the series recently, and while nothing is on the level of Jurassic Park as a great film, I feel the critics are always unusually cruel to this franchise.

Hell, even Dominion was fun as hell. Its pitiful RT score is undeserved especially compared to a lot of the other dumb summer films that get a pass.

Fallen Kingdom is really the only one that loses the fun once they’re off the island. That opening is still one of the best sequences in the series though.

Anyway, it’ll be interesting to see how this one is received by actual people.

These movies are critic proof until/unless a really really bad one comes along (Dominion was close but not quite).

Eh, the fun of Dominion is weighed down by way, way too many characters all over the place. Granted, all the new dinos probably made up for it. Fallen Kingdom was more of a shift in genres, rather than losing fun.

Enjoyed, Fallen Kingdom!

NGL, a lot of the CGI in this is uglier than I expected. I thought that was the one thing Edwards excelled at (well that and meeting time/budget constraints, which ain’t nothing!) but here not so much. Probably a good thing this ain’t in IMAX tbh.

There are limits to what a director can do to help the CGI succeed. I think the time inherently limited it.

Dominion is probably one of the worst blockbusters I've seen in recent years.

I like Edwards. I also understand his limitations a director. I also understand how he would have more freedom to get CGI right on his other films.

Dominion had a similar feel to Rise of Skywalker where they had 2 movies to build to a finale and because of mixed reception they got a big case of "what do we do?" for the last one and completely dropped the ball.

I've never liked the "dinosaurs are now loose in the human world" idea and it was my least favorite part of The Lost World, but I get that a lot of people wanted to see that and that's what Falling Kingdom left us off with. "You wanna see dinosaurs out in real world locations where there's humans? here we go!". In Dominion we get what, 15 minutes of that and then it's "Hey look we contained the dinosaurs into this sanctuary that might as well be another Isla Nubar/Sorna".

And ironically Trevorrow played a part in both Dominion and Rise of Skywalker before Abrams took over.

Seeing this in a few hours. I like Gareth Edwards movies for the most part, although I found The Creator to be excruciatingly boring. I hope this isn't that.

I skipped The Creator, but that was my take away from both Godzilla and Rogue One.
Visually, it was great. But everything else felt so lethargic and soulless...
The characters felt like they were just going through the motion, myself included.
