Garfield Animated Movie

I was hoping he was Jon!

When Garfield wants lasagna.

I looked it up and from what I can tell, Garfield's dad has never been introduced in either the comic strip or any of the cartoons.

Wish Sam Jackson would voice Nermal just to hear him bicker with Garfield

I like the art-style they're going for, and Pratt has at least put more effort into his voice here than he did for Mario. But it's yet to be seen if they actually manage to balance the level of mean-spiritedness inherent to Garfield with the kids humor.

The movie itself doesn't look appealing to me, but I'll admit that it doesn't seem to be a bastardization of the source material or anything since Garfield was always going off on crazy adventures in the cartoon. Also, Pratt's voice suits Garfield a lot more than it did Mario.

...I'm sorry, but I just hear Chris Pratt recording lines as himself in a sound booth and not Garfield. Though the animation looks nice.

This is probably the most I’ve been intrigued about anything Garfield related in the past almost 20 years. That, and Super Eyepatch Wolf’s video. Which is saying a lot, because the last thing I saw, the first live action Garfield movie, pretty much killed my interest in that comic, and the fact that the creator himself pretty much approved something so cash grabby and blatantly missing the points of the comic didn’t help. This actually looks like it has some semblance of creativity and soul put into it.

Also, it helps that it’s being directed and written by the same guys who did “The Emperor’s New Groove”, which is legit one of my all-time favorite Disney films. (“Chicken Little” I don’t hold against him, since that was pretty much a s**tshow that spun completely out of his control, completely abandoned his original ideas and got away from him so much that it can’t even really be considered his film.)

I'll definitely watch this one with the family. Big Garfield fan here as a child.

I agree with a few previous comments. While it's always hard to accept a different voice (because the original cartoon voice is the Garfield Voice I prefer) it's good to hear Pratt using some of those tones in that trailer. Sure, parts sound simply like Chris, but other parts it sounded like he was using the original voice as inspiration as well.

Looks fine.

Pratt's voice is ok. Some of the line reads were perfect deadpan the rest not so much. Like many I thought Nick Offerman would be a better choice but it is what it is.

Feel the same way about this that I feel about Scoob, Smurfs, the Trolls movie trailers: I'm in my 30s, this looks like it's made for young kids and I hope they enjoy it. This just isn't for me but I can't really be mad at it as an adult

For sure. This definitely looks like something that'll be boring for the over-10 crowd compared to something like TMNT: Mutant Mayhem that had plenty for Gen X'ers and Millennials who grew up with the Turtles to enjoy.

Could anyone tell who was voicing Jon Arbuckle and Odie from the trailer? Is that Harvey Guillen or Nicholas Hoult as Jon?

Ok Pratt is annoying but this does look cute. It’s nice to see an animated film for cat lovers. Most of the time when cats appear in animation they’re made to look really mean

Why couldn't Sony tell us who is playing who?

I assume this means that Nicholas Hoult is Jon, and Brett Goldstein is playing Nermal. They are really trying to subvert expectations if that's the case.
