Why couldn't Sony tell us who is playing who?

I assume this means that Nicholas Hoult is Jon, and Brett Goldstein is playing Nermal. They are really trying to subvert expectations if that's the case.

He doesn't seem to be talking in the trailer. He's just talking in gibberish-like noises.

This looks like it will be totally decent. Pratt sounds fine as Garfield. I get that everyone has strong opinions of Pratt, but his vocal performance sounds totally appropriate here. He doesn't sound like he's phoning it in.

Also, are we really going to forget that everyone absolutely loved what he did in The LEGO Movie 10 years ago? Now suddenly everyone hates it when Pratt does voice work in animation.

I guess what I'm not too excited about is seeing an origin/backstory for Garfield, Garfield meeting his real dad and everything. Seems like his dad's boss will be the real villain. I will still give this a shot though. Nothing about this looks actively bad to me.

In retrospect, I think it’s good they didn’t try for a Lorenzo Music (or Bill Murray) impersonation.

I saw the first CGI one from a few years ago with Bill Murray, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Breckin Meyer...but I don't recall being impressed very much. I loved reading the newspaper strip growing up, and the cartoons were funny...but the movie just seemed empty and pointless. I skipped on the sequel.

The trailer for the new one was a little funny, but I'm still worried it will try too hard to be "hip".
