Gay DC Superhero

They suck. But does it really matter? Modern DC universe consists of overgrown fanzines. That's about it.

I love the modern DCU personally

Sure some of the comic books suck like Justice League or Detective Comics but overall I'm digging their stuff right now

And I'm lookung forward to checking out Earth 2 this week

Well generally I talk about Batgirl's breasts because I'm into breasts, and a girl. -proudly waving her half gay flag- More into Shadowcat's but that's probably just a preference on my end.

Kitty Pryde's are truly exceptional

Also one of my most favorite comic couple, Hulking and Wiccan, totally adorable really!!

Have you checked out the most recent Young Avengers mini series yet

They're so cute together in it :atp:

Yea teddy and billy are pretty much my favorite couple. Glad to see them finally kiss too, and they sorta had a marriage proposal too... Though not sure how serious they were in the convo...

I really hope it was serious and that those two will be the next gay couple to get married in the Marvel universe

They're one of my favourite couples as well and they're so cute :atp:

Seeing them finally kiss made me :)

Ummm the only thing I "chose" to do about being gay was not hiding it. I love who I am, but no one in their right mind would chose to be persecuted or be treated like a second class citizen.

Just to say while I totally agree that as one of my heroes once said 'Baby we were born this way' and that sexuality definitely isn't a choice personally would choose to be a lesbian if it was a choice. Without any hesitation if I could choose my sexuality I would choose to be lesbian

I wouldn't ever want to be straight. If hypothetically someone made a pill that could make me straight I wouldn't take it if they offered me a billion pounds to so so.

I love being a lesbian and the lifestyle I lead as one and if I could choose my sexuality I would always choose to be a lesbian. I would never want to be straight and I would never choose to 'become' straight if such a thing were possible. Not in a million years.

And I think its important to add that even if we weren't born this way being lgbt would still be totally normal and natural :)

Love is love and whether its choice or genetics or cosmic rays that make us who we are two or more people who love each other is always a good and beautiful thing no matter the gender

I think this is absolutely disgusting and shame on DC for even doing this! yes Gays exist and I got nothing against them but why make a Main character gay? What's the point? Basically this is just to try and appeal to a broader audience but it wont work, sorry but I can't look at another Green Lantern comic again this is just too depressing, they need to stop this and I'm tempted to start a petition!

It shouldn't be allowed and whoever gave it the "green" light to go ahead needs to be removed from that industry!

Wow...way to let the bigot out in you. You got nothing against them and yet they shouldn't be a main character :o

You know, I can never tell if people who begin statements of bigotry with "I got nothing against them, but..." are being serious or just trolling.

No I'm saying I'm cool with it but just as a main character I'm not cool wiht it, maybe his friend or someone he knows but seriously I don't see the point?

The point is, DC got rid of a semi-popular gay superhero named Obsidian when they made his father Alan Scott young again (too young to have adult superheroes for children). So to make up for it and continue to have (what some hope to be) a positive portrayal of a gay male superhero in DC Comics, they've made Alan Scott gay.

By the way, in regard to your earlier statement about not buying Green Lantern comics, Alan won't be in the Green Lantern comics. This is an alternate universe comic for Earth-2.

I don't see how being okay with it being a supporting character makes you any less of a bigot.

It's like a racist who's okay with a token black character, but would start a petition if old Token ever got more than a bit role. :o

I just remembered what happened when the JLA had 3-4 black characters in it, and how a bunch of people were up in arms about there being too many.

The day there are more than 2 gay characters on a single team, the crap is going to hit the fan. Even the X-Men (who have about a dozen gay characters among them) have never put more than two in a single comic at the same time.

Nothing wrong with a main character being gay IMO and they should have done it long ago,A gay male&female hero could easily still be among the best in their universe But just happen to like their own gender..Just like in real life with soldiers/police/fire men/etc!!!

Point or no point gays are humans and they still do what any other straight person can do,In this case a super hero can still be as super as any other top hero!!

Heh, one thing about these stunts, it sure does cause people to show their true colors. :hehe:

This news has provoked every possible reaction under the sun. It's like seeing a bunch of parents simultaneously find out their sons have boyfriends.

Racism is different to Gayism so it shouldn't be brought up here!

I don't condone racism but it's an important issue and they cover it well in comics and have done many times.

A Gay Hero now, just, sorry it just doesn't feel right, I have no problem if you're Gay and stuff like that I just don't hang around them anyway but it's kind of infiltrating my civil rights as a human being when I can't even read a comic without it being in my face!

I'm sorry but it just shouldn't be allowed and that's my opinion!

I believe it's called homophobia, not gayism. Also, in the grand scheme of things....it really isn't any different.

A Gay Hero now, just, sorry it just doesn't feel right, I have no problem if you're Gay and stuff like that I just don't hang around them anyway but it's kind of infiltrating my civil rights as a human being when I can't even read a comic without it being in my face!

You say that you don't have a problem with a person being gay and yet you're clearly expressing how you have a problem with it. How does a person's sexuality affect their capabilities of being a hero? How do you infiltrate a person's civil rights? And you are aware that no one is forcing you to read these comics?

Gayism. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Since Hal and Alan are gonna meet, and I assume Barry and Jay are gonna meet. Do you think the Earths merging will be how Hawkman and Hawkgirl get together?

Ugh... here we go again. Just leave him alone and maybe he'll go away.

I'm confused, when are Hal and Alan going to meet? Is there going to be a new Crisis on Two Earths?

Really? You don't see the similarities at all?

Here is the rest of your post unchanged -

I don't condone racism but it's an important issue and they cover it well in comics and have done many times.

A Gay Hero now, just, sorry it just doesn't feel right, I have no problem if you're Gay and stuff like that I just don't hang around them anyway but it's kind of infiltrating my civil rights as a human being when I can't even read a comic without it being in my face!

I'm sorry but it just shouldn't be allowed and that's my opinion!

Now read it with minor alterations .....

A black Hero now, just, sorry it just doesn't feel right, I have no problem if you're black and stuff like that I just don't hang around them anyway but it's kind of infiltrating my civil rights as a human being when I can't even read a comic without it being in my face!

....or how about....

A Jewish Hero now, just, sorry it just doesn't feel right, I have no problem if you're Jewish and stuff like that I just don't hang around them anyway but it's kind of infiltrating my civil rights as a human being when I can't even read a comic without it being in my face!

....or maybe....

A Chinese Hero now, just, sorry it just doesn't feel right, I have no problem if you're Chinese and stuff like that I just don't hang around them anyway but it's kind of infiltrating my civil rights as a human being when I can't even read a comic without it being in my face!

....or possibly....

A Muslim Hero now, just, sorry it just doesn't feel right, I have no problem if you're Muslim and stuff like that I just don't hang around them anyway but it's kind of infiltrating my civil rights as a human being when I can't even read a comic without it being in my face!

Each of those substitutions - black, Jewish, Chinese, and Muslim (and actually, any group of people that is different from the majority in every area of the world ) have suffered prejudice, repression, violence and intolerance by others using the same words you used.

I personally think it is time for the world to grow up and start acting better.

You do know that Gambit is bisexual, right?

C.Lee, you seem to be having SOOOOO much fun in this thread. :o

As a lesbian comic book fan I want more lgbt characters in all comics as both main characters and supporting characters

They're the kind of characters I want to read about and that I care about and enjoy reading and having lgbt main characters is a wonderful idea. I love Batwoman because it has a lesbian main character and I'm loving X Factor and Stormwatch which have gay and bisexual main characters

And if he's a well written gay man I'm going to definitely love Earth 2 and Alan Scott as well

If there weren't lgbt characters in comic books I wouldn't buy them

I just remembered what happened when the JLA had 3-4 black characters in it, and how a bunch of people were up in arms about there being too many.

Astonishing X Men has two lgbt characters on one team Manic

Karma and Northstar are both on the team thats why I'm buying that comic book right

And the award for the most unintentionally hillarious post ever goes to...

You do know that Gambit is bisexual, right?

I didn't know that but that's great news

And that means there are three lgbt characters on the Astonishing x men team not two :)

Out of interest which comic book did Gambit first cone out in? I'd like to check that out

We're infiltrating his civil rights Cconn! :wow:

Gay characters in comics? Next thing you know women will be allowed to vote and interracial marriage will become legal

And then all the horses start eating each other! :wow:

I'm white. Does this mean that I shouldn't read books about black characters or watch movies with all black casts?

I'm heterosexual. Does that I mean I shouldn't read books about gay characters or watch movies about gay characters?

I could go on and on and on....but I feel it will not make a difference to you though.......prejudices and bigotry are in many places.
