Astonishing X Men has two lgbt characters on one team Manic

Karma and Northstar are both on the team thats why I'm buying that comic book right

I said "more than 2." People who are secretly bigoted seem to reach their limit once the "tokens" of any team exceed two members. No one is saying anything about Astonishing X-Men having both Karma and Northstar, but the closeted homophobes would come out in droves if the book suddenly added someone like Anole.

lol It's more likely a joke by the writers at the time, but it was a backdoor joke and him responding like he's fine with what/whoever needs to be done.

Why Spiderman became black is the reason a Green Lantern became gay.

Writers don't want to write about new characters. It's why Hal Jordan is a Lantern again. It's why Barry Allen is the Flash again. Kyle and Wally aren't there guys. Dc chose a character that writers liked to write for but now have to work in him being gay.


Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Flash, and Hal all have some set in stone female partners one way or another. Wonder woman would be a lipstick lesbian(though she really should still be a lesbian given the island of women thing). Cyborg is black and that's already a burden to bear(a black gay man is an even bigger issue to write). Hawkman has hawkgirl. Earth 2 characters are simply out of play and aren't in the limelight. They can still have Obsidian you know by having Scott's sperm go to a surrogate but I think the fact that he and Jay exist as young men in modern times kinda makes it all moot anyway,

I think we are really having issue was that they had to announce it. So now we are expecting them to have GL be gay but not to gay. But we need to be reminded he's gay but it can't be loud. He has to act like a normal guy but still be a gay man.

It's kinda like what happened with Miles. His blackness can't change Spiderman but it has to mean something. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Kathy and Kate are basically the same woman from two different Earths. They're no different from pre- and post-Flashpoint Alan Scott.

As long as Alan Scott is written well, I don't really care if he's gay. However, I don't quite get the argument that DC is trying to have their cake and eat it by essentially making the New52 Alan Scott the same as the pre-new 52 Alan Scott, only gay.

Alan Scott was a brave and noble superhero, albeit straight. The new Earth 2 Alan Scott is a brave and noble superhero, albeit gay. I mean, what would you rather Robinson do? Make him an angsty jerk? Personally, if he's going to be one of the actual heroes that DC's got in their stable, then great. If they're going to make him into this angry, kinda bitter, anti-heroish kind of character, then I'm not interested at all.

As much as I loved and agreed with the latest issue of The Goon and all that it said about how Marvel and DC treat their properties, the fact that his sexuality is pissing so many people off only makes me want to keep buying the book. Batwoman worked, regardless of if she was a gimmick character at first. She's become an incredible character. And if Robinson can make Alan Scott just as awesome, then by all means, go for it.

I don't think I've ever seen something related to comics divide fans so much. I wouldn't even say they're divided by the fact that the character is gay, but by the fact that DC is trying to make this such a big thing. It's bring out the bigotry in full force on one side.

The writer of Earth-Two said eventually Hal and Alan will meet. And in the FCBD issue Cyborg's Dad had a view into Earth-Two. So we'll see.

Same here. Limiting yourself to reading characters that you can only completely identify yourself with is making you miss out on a lot of awesome stories.
