Sci-Fi Gears of War: The movie (In the works!)

Cameron would be another good choice to direct. But with Len Wiseman in talks, I would also want him to direct.

the game had no story... lol.... not even a solid ending.

Gears was just meant soley for its gameplay. It doesnt have the story capabilities of RE or Silent Hill...

its destined to fail...

unless they change it drastically.

Yeah, I think the ending was cleary a set up for the sequel.

They build a story around a premise. Kind of like how they built a story around a stupid Disney amusement ride with Pirates.

There's a ton of history that was barely touched upon in the video game for them to sink their teeth into and develop into a script. Things like the Pendulum Wars, Emergence Day, the discovery of Imulsion, maybe even some background into General RAAM and Adam Fenix.

All of this stuff could and should be explored in the film.

and none of that was shown in the game lol......

Shoot, I figure it actually works in their favor for all that history and character background information to go unaddressed in the regular edition of the game. This way they can start fresh and clean with the film. Less opportunity to screw up when you have nothing to duplicate.

if theres nothing to duplicate then why bother calling it Gears of War..lol

wait thats a dumb question....... $$$$$

You could easily take the Gears mythos and turn it into another movie with new names and nobody would bat an eye. Because the intricate tidbits of storyline are so underutilized.

I hope they don't kill it. Im looking forward to it. I mean they have to make a good movie based on a video game eventually right. Its overdue. Gears has the plot and potential to make for a good movie.

Dream about Cameron all you want. He will never direct a video game movie like this.

I'm excited his next movie is actually not based on anything. It's an original work.

this movie will blow chunks. can anyone say doom?

No because we don't have one piece of footage yet, nor what the plans for the film will be action wise and story wise. Yes they're going to base it off the video game, but somethings could change.

It's to early to judge how this film will turn out.

any movie where there stereotypical jocks go fight monsters, its going to end up pretty damn crappy.

this movie just like the game will have a lot of hype and turn out to be a failure.

^Wait...The Gears of War video game is a failure? Last time I checked it was getting near perfect reviews and is seen as following in Halo's footsteps. People may disagree on certain opinions on Gears of War, but I think all of us can agree it's anything but a failure. I mean if it was a failure, this thread wouldn't be here. And we would've forgot about it a week after it's release.
