Ronnie Coleman for Cole Train, and yes I'm scared too.
what happened to the Halo movie?
just 2 ask, WHY is it called GEARS of War? i don't get it!Wow New Line is getting quite aggresive with the futurisitic war/action films. First Escape from NY and now this. 300 has quite a bit to do with this. Good. Stuart Beattie who just finished Punisher 2 script is doing this. He's busy as all hell. Here's a few links to the story:
I can see a bunch of ex-football players and pro-wrestlers trying to get in on this one. LOL
Who should direct this? Who should be the stars???
They got the screenwriter for Black Hawk Down on board Escape from NY...maybe they should find the director of that film for this one.I could totally see Vin Diesel playing one of the characters in this film. Michael Clark Duncan too.

Gears of War film script good
It appears that the film script, or at least the current incarnation from Stuart Beattie, for the videogame adaptation Gears of War is actually rather good.![]()
What's more though is the rumour that New Line is not only really keen for Len Wisemen for Director, but that they've only got the script out to four other other Directors. So with the current success of Die Hard 4.0 (Filmstalker review), it would seem that Len Wiseman is running high on the list.
Over at Latino Review they've rated it with an A- and said that it does follow the previous treatment rather closely.
It tells of the final moments of the battle of Aspho Fields, the last of the Pendulum Wars, and the dawning realisation that humans are not alone on the planet. Basically a prequel to the events in the game.
Could this be one of the better adaptations? Perhaps a film to rival Halo before it has even been released, never mind developed.
....Cause that's the name of the video game.
Gears Of War Scoop
Stu Beattie finally delivered the draft of GEARS OF WAR.
116 pages dated 7-31-07.
It totally rocks! I rate it an A-
As always, Stu Beattie delivers like he did with Splinter Cell and Without Remorse. The script like the beat sheet described earlier is balls to the wall hard core action and mayhem.
I was going to do a script review but we would be repeating what we already revealed when we first looked at the beat sheet or treatment of the film which you can check out here:
http://www.latinoreview.com/news.php?id=1890
There you find all the details for the first half of the script. The script is basically a prequel to the game. It's the origin of Emergence Day and ends when Marcus Fenix is locked up for four years. I never played the game, I am holding out for when it comes out for Windows so that I can play in all it's Direct X 10 glory on my Geforce 8800 ultra this holiday season.
The beats are primarily the same, some minor changes and adjustments but I think the script rocks.
The other scoop is that sources tell me that not only does New Line like Len Wiseman for Gears Of War but the script is out to four other directors.
i MEANT the game's name, not the movie. why is the GAME called GEARS of WAR? IT HAS NOTHING 2 DO WITH ROBOTS OR MACHINERY!!! guess the name "Resistance: Fall of Man" was ALREADY taken by a certain competitior....lol

Gears Of War Movie Script Writer Speaks
by hal (Gears of War) 4 Comments / Permalink
Stuart Beattie, the writer tapped for the Gears of War movie script, is perhaps best known for his treatment of the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean. GamePro talks to him about the Gears movie as well as Hollywood's cautious interest in movies based upon games.Gamers wondering what a Gears of War movie might look like need only to rent Warner Bros.' Blu-ray Disc or HD-DVD of 300. Many film critics called that international blockbuster a movie that looked like a videogame. Now there might be a game that looks like a game on the big screen.
"To me, that's a good movie because that's a movie that is getting people talking about, reading into it," said Beattie. "It's interesting. Everyone's talking about 300. They use it as an example of where things are headed. That film was shot completely on green screen, which is amazing when you actually see the film. It's probably how we're going to do Gears of War."
