I definitely did get choked up as well in the third act. Even with Jyn watching Galen's message and Galen's death as well.

LOVED the movie, but I have to ask: what's with all the morons going around accusing this movie of having a libertarian agenda? It's ****ing STAR WARS! The series has jack all to do with real life politics! In short:

All Star Wars movies are political. Its Star Wars.

It is telling when anti-fascist messages are "political agendas"...

Eh, if you hate the movies you hate the movies. Nothing really wrong with that, though hate is a very strong emotion to be throwing around. It is taking it out on others. Simon Pegg "hates" the prequels and I agree with his general assessment on them. I also think the context of the dislike for the prequels matters. A lot of it comes from Lucas being just as childish with how he handle the reaction and his attempts to validate them by hurting the original films.
Yeah, complaining about connections to the Prequels is ridiculous. Even Simon Pegg guest starred on The Clone Wars!
What's great about the film is that while these characters weren't the most fleshed out, they still did a really fantastic job making us care when they met their end.
I couldn't agree with this more!
Yes. They also mentioned General Syndulla.
Marvel needs to be taking notes. It really isn't that hard to integrate the TV shows!
There's a lot to explore between episodes 3 and 4 such as Darth Vader hunting down remaining Jedi, Obi-Wan's time on Tatooine, fates of the Ghost Crew, Luke Skywalker raised on Tatooine, Leia raised on Alderaan, etc.

Also a lot to explore between Episodes 1 and 2 since it's a 10-year difference like Anakin's training under Obi-Wan and Padme's rise as a Senator.
Yep! It's great to how successful this is because it bodes really well for the future spinoffs. (Here's hoping a Kenobi solo gets greenlit soon, because that concept has HUGE potential) And the more I think about the Han Solo origin, the more I think that movie can be a massive hit, tapping into the same type of rougish Sci-Fi as GOTG. But I hope they don't just stick to the OT era. I know they've been trying to avoid the PT, but there's tons of potential from a Jedi Order movie. Like, what about a Dooku/Qui-Gon story? That could be incredible!

Chopper is also in the movie for a quick cameo. Confirmed by Hidalgo, I missed him. I gotta watch again now that I know when he shows up.

Went for a second viewing today. That ending is going to be so hard to top! Just incredible stuff. :hrt:

True, and i'm ok with his hate. I hate tons of movies others love. But him saying that it's comparable to killing an infant & that you don't respect anyone who likes it? Unnecessary.

Simon Pegg's free to dislike the prequels, he's definitely not alone on that front and he didn't get what he wanted out of those films so it's fair that he was upset. Though I do think he was very over the top. I mean he compared George Lucas to an infanticide...that's a bit much in my opinion.

Agreed

They deserve accolades for having the sack to actually kill everyone. I thought a good number of them would, but I wasn't expecting everyone. It's a big reason why the movie benefits Episode IV so much. It gives perspective on the Rebels' "first major victory" and recontextualizes how desperate and needed the destruction of the Death Star is. It's not just about saving themselves, it's about honoring the sacrifice Rogue One made to make it possible.

I dunno, never felt like they were honoring those that died in A New Hope.

Only Mon Mothma felt ever to pay homage to those that died to get the plans for the second Death Star.

It's never explicitly stated, just like it's never stated how the plans were procured to being with. But this film showing how it was done and the sacrifices required to accomplish it gives new meaning to Luke bullseying the exhaust port (Galen's hidden flaw) and blowing the whole thing away. It makes the ending to this film oddly hopeful despite how dark it is.

That's crazy because the both times I watched it and Scarif was being blown away, it did feel "hopeful" and I hated how the word "hope" felt overkill in all the previews.

Mentioned this in the Diego thread, but after the implications of Cassian's past, and how awesome K2 was, I'd love to see a Netflix series of their past missions.

I may have plenty of complaints about the movie including characterization plus very little of vader. But that slaughter in the passageway was awesome. We got to see one by presuit vader in rots and this one was also brilliant. Only the corresponding soundtrack of 'Anakin's dark deeds' puts it on higher pedestal.

I wonder why the music in disney star wars fails to give rise to same emotion unlike pt and ot.

Also makes one realize that for all the heroics and sacrifices by the rebellion, they had hardly any chance of defeating the sith until luke came along.

Not really. That's just not how the moment is played.

For ****s and giggles I did a Youtube search of the final scene, and lo and behold somebody recorded it, lol.

I can barely listen to Fighting In The War Room anymore... other than Da7e and Joanna, the rest are insufferable alienating *******s about everything.

I can't stand these guys and don't get how people even watch them.

OK, I liked the movie, not as much as alot of people seemed to have had, but I'm not a "hater" of the film, but I actually thought their review was hilarious, and they had a few good points.

As I said my reaction to this movie is that it's a good movie from a visual standpoint. From a story driven point the thing is a mess, but it's one of those films that the action and visual aspects of it, it's well worth the price of admission.

Sure these guys are harping on it, but they are doing it primarily for trying to get views for their channel. But I'm sorry I just lost is when they said "So what did you think of Disney's Star Wars Rogue One a Star Wars Story....by Disney".
