Civil War General Ross in civil war! William Hurt returns!

We really need some Abomination up in here. There needs to be at least a couple of villains that Stark unleashes on the world.

Why does Stark need to unleash him though? Maybe either Zemo unleashes him or Ross does. It would be cool if somehow by the end of the movie, instead of the Avengers fighting against each other, they join forces and take on a movie version of the Masters of Evil with Zemo, Crossbones, Abomination and some others. Imagine if Ross turned into Red Hulk and sided with Zemo's team.

Of course, it would be a damn shame if the Avengers fight Red Hulk with no Hulk to help them.

So I wonder if William Hurt's General Ross if he will be a villain in this? If he is then I wonder if this means we will be seeing Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk considering Ross he wants Hulk for whatever reason

that's a pretty good idea
Maybe Stark is "in the room" so to speak, when the decision is made to release some villains to fight the Anti-reg group, and then he quickly realizes the mistake, and sides with Cap's group to right the wrong

also, I dunno about seeing green hulk fight red hulk on screen, might come off as a bit cheesy. But if the lower power New Avengers have to fight the military's very own Hulk, that would be a tense and frightening battle for Cap's crew. Pretty much only Vision would have any hope of doing anything to him, or maybe Scarlet Witch if she can penetrate that thick skull with her powers.

If Ross did turn into Red Hulk, then this could be an amalgamation of the Civil War and Red Hulk story lines. It would be cool even if the destruction at the beginning of Civil War that causes the registration act involves Red Hulk, who causes mass destruction. Maybe people start blaming the Hulk, but it's actually General Ross of all people who is responsible.

Then he could be a complete hypocrite and try to push forward the registration act.

But we need other army personnel. A General needs other military to interact with, and General Talbot would be the perfect person. Bring back Adrian Pasdar!

Well I'd imagine Cap's team will be causing a lot of trouble for Stark's. He'll get more and more frustrated, trying to apprehend them. And then he'll think back "remember when we had a Hulk?"

I mean in universe Abom was very close to being freed and put on the Avengers anyway. So there's precedent right there for the government freeing him. Maybe Stark won't be wholly onboard, but he'll go with it out of desperation.

Red Hulk ultimately being the big bad would definitely make sense

Well I imagine that Ross might be the one who wants to do that instead of Stark. Ross was, after all, the one who approved the Abomination program with Blonsky. Maybe if it doesn't work out as he planned, Ross could volunteer to be a subject himself at the end of the movie and could become Red Hulk.

Although I don't know if it's too soon to bring Red Hulk in, and if it would be better left for when Mark Ruffalo is around.

But if they did have Red Hulk, then doesn't that kind of necessitate having Betty Ross in order to talk him down? Time to bring back Liv Tyler!

There's no way Red Hulk is in this movie. No way at all.

I'm not a massive fan of Rulk in this movie. I'd like to see him at some point but this film is already really crowded without that subplot. I'm not completely against it, but I'd rather have the pre-established Hulk villain - Abom.

I'd prefer Abomination too (although with his classic look this time). Maybe there could just be a nod to Ross becoming Red Hulk, in that he volunteers for a program at the end of the movie when he decides he'll have to do things himself.

I think it's been so long that we've seen General Ross that he needs to be re-established again. Although you'd think he should be re-established within a Hulk context by actually interacting with Ruffalo's Banner.

Hurt's take on General Ross didn't do anything for me (Sam Elliott's was both better-acted and a more interesting character), but I guess we'll see what they have for him to do here.

Post-credit hype.

So do you guys think that rumour of Ross turning up at the end of Ant-Man is true? I want a Pym cameo too.

Just imagine. We'll get to see more scenes similar to this except not just relegated to a mid-credits scene:

I imagine there will have to be some call back to this scene and the last time Ross and Stark met.

Didn't like his Ross, but this is still a surprise. Seriously thought they would just never connect to that film ever again.

I'm more of a Sam Elliot Ross guy myself but still this is great news! Kind of makes me wish Ruffalo showed up in this.

Ruffalo did want to show up in Civil War. There was that interview where he says he'd like to be in it and asks ScarJo to put in a good word for him, and she says that she'll talk to the Russos and that they liked him in Foxcatcher.

It just seems natural now for Ruffalo to show up even just as Banner and butt heads with General Ross.

Really surprised to read this!

Although there have been references to The Incredible Hulk, non of the supporting cast have ever returned in subsequent MCU films. It shows the disdain Kevin Feige and the Marvel execs seem to have for that film.

If Ross is in this, i wonder if Adrian Pasdar will cameo as Glenn Talbot too? I think Marvel have yet to "promote" one of their tv cast members to the films. For me, the [BLACKOUT]hellicarier rescue sequence in Sokovia[/BLACKOUT] in AOU was the perfect moment to have some of the Agents Of Shield cast enter the cinematic fold.

You know deep down Ross is probably getting involved to get @ The Hulk too. The Hulk is his dirty little secret.

Good news. Like I said in the other thread, it seems a shame though that he isn't even getting to be in the same picture as Mark Ruffalo's Hulk. We haven't seen the two of them together. He could've had a cameo before in AOU or the Avengers. Or give Ruffalo a small role in this film even just as Banner butting heads with Ross.

And the other person we need to have now to tie it all together is Adrian Pasdar as General Talbot. Let him and Ross interact. Instead of Ross just having random army personnel, they could write Talbot in.

I wouldn't mind seeing Liv Tyler cameoing as Betty Ross as well.

BTW, would anyone ever want to see Thunderbolt Ross become Red Hulk?

Hulk vs Rulk is one of my dreams for the MCU! It would be so epic!

Given that Age of Ultron's ending suggests that Banner is going to be laying low, unbeknownst even to his fellow heroes, I don't think it makes any sense for him to pop up here just to talk to Ross, or anyone else.

Ross is probably going to ask about Banner first thing, using his alliance with the SHRA to hunt him. Maybe behind the scenes. He might use it to release Blonsky as well (to put on Stark's team).

Tony recruiting a squad of supervillains is one aspect of the story that I'd be pretty sure is not going to be in the movie.
